Default Slight new best last night.

Not much, but a little better...

I was playing with my delay box all night, and still haven't really done any "tuning" on the car in awhile... Letting go of the button as soon as you see the top bulb is harder than it looks! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Anyway, I ran a 10.33, 10.34, 10.30, and then clicked off a 10.22 @ 131.90mph (1.43 60', 6.51 @ 105.7 1/8th).

The car decided to throw the belt off somewhere on that last run, and the car got really hot in a hurry on the return road, and puked all of the coolant out of it. Doesn't take too long to get hot with no water pump! Hopefully I got it shut off soon enough to have not hurt anything... I'll know for sure when I get home this afternoon and put on a new belt (keeping my fingers crossed).

hopefully everything is ok <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
Why did the belt throw? Were you running a shortbelt or something?
Do you have that raised ridge idler pulley ASP sells? I was losing part of the belt off the side till I put that on. (ASP pulley on the front and alt UD pulley)
Cheers,
Chris

Wahoooo an ARE car almost in the 10.1's NA!!!

I have the ASP high-side idler pulley because belts would walk off. I even had changed the idler before but it did not help.

No power steering on the car, so yeah, I guess that's a short belt. I don't have an idler pulley at all. Just the tensioner, water pump, and alternator. It's always had a slight tendancy to jump off 1 rib or so on occasion. I guess I just didn't keep an eye on it and it walked all the way off.

I hope to have a Mezeire electric pump on the car sometime in the near future.

Congrats George, better & better! I have one of those pulleys (aka Larrys pulley) that I am not using if you need it.

Damn George....you do realize that you are doing all this in the heat! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> Wonder what she'll run in some cool temps. It's nice to see all your work is paying off. People don't really mind busting *** working on a car when they see improvements like you have. Gotta be a great motivater with new bests each week. Congrats!

I had the same problem. I'm using the same pulley as well. Its actually a pully for the tensioner. instead of plastic...its a metal piece with a good bearing in it. the pully has a higher sidewall to keep the belt from walking.

I also went to a katech manual tensioner.

Hope the motor is okay man! Keep us posted!

It is the tensioner pulley. We were throwing belts at one time and this solved the problem. Shoot me an e-mail or call if you want it.

George,
Are you racing this weekend? Top Et with the new monkey box? <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

I will be racing Saturday and Sunday if it doesn't rain again. I have not raced for two whole weekends. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

Coach

Coach, I really want to race this weekend, but go checkout the forecast for N. Florida for Saturday and Sunday. Stupid tropical storms!

Todd, give me a break! I'm trying here! <img border="0" alt="[jester]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_jest.gif" /> What do you expect out of a little 382cid small valved motor? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

George, that is impressive and is truly ASTONISHING with only 382 CI! <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />

...I hope you don't upgrade to 422CI anytime soon! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

Don't worry Stephen, I think you're record is safe for awhile still. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

The weather is looking better, so I may get to try my hand at some electronics racing tomorrow night after all. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!
