Default Battery disconnect switch

The battery is being relocated to the rear in my Z28 and I'm wondering where to mount the disconnect switch. It has to be external and I'm trying to figure the best place at the rear of the car. I'm trying to keep the car looking as streetable as possible. I seem to remember seeing them mounted just below the rear deck lid, above the rear bumper facia on stock eliminator camaros and firebirds. Does that sound right?

You could remove the locking mechanisim and put it there. I've seen that done and it looks good.

I have mine in the middle of my license plate. Not 100% "street legal" since I altered the tag, but I could replace the tag and you'd never see the hole in the bumper (although that's about the only easily reversible thing on my car anymore). <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Figured I'd drag this old post up. I'd really like to move my battery but I'd rather not drill holes in the body of my car. My rear bumper is still in. Can I still go in the license area?

mine is in the middle of my plate. you still gotta put a hole in the bumper along witht eh plate though, but as mentioned all you'd have to do later on is get a new plate and it would be covered up

I have mine attached outside of the spare tire well, coming out from under the bumper. Can just remove the handle on the street and you'd never know it's there. However, if I was gonna be running an exhaust with tips at the bumper, this would be much harder. There are some pics in my sig.

I put mine (push/pull type) through the passenger side tail light. No visible holes in the body.

I put mine in the center pnl between the taillights to the right side of the lock mechanism, then just cut out some of the metal behind it for the cables to run through. My battery is in the spare tire well. Installing the switch took about 45 min. I used the taylor switch sticker to trace the hole where I wanted it and then used a rotozip bit in a dremel to nibble away at it until it was a perfect fit. Then cut some of the plastic out from the back side and thats it. looks real nice but I think I will get the billet faceplate and switch handle from jegs to dress it up a bit.

Also it only takes 5 minutes and a $10 used tail panel to go back to stock and I can switch back and forth when Im not at the track if I dont want people messing with the switch (daily driver in the summer)
