Default Prototyping 4" ram air hood ----->

If anyone is interested, I am prototyping a 4" ram air hood with VFN Fiberglass. It will be available as a bolt-on and a pin-on.

Now a few comments on the appearance. The hood will use the stock size nostril grilles and then will rise to about 4 inches... Hood will be available with the back open or sealed. Might be available to go flush with the windshield.

Hood will DIFFER from the Joe van Overbeek Racebodies hood that you maybe have seen on some Super Street cars in those hoods have no valley between the nostrils because those hoods are built to allow the fitment of carburetors and high-rise intakes.

I am hoping to have have the first one on my car for the Southern Shootout so you guys can check it out.

I don't have weights or prices at this time, but we will try to keep the weight of both versions down they understand what the LS1 scene is about and will accomodate.

Also coming out with stock appearance SS hood both as a bolt-on and a pin-on around the same time.

Here is a pic of Mike Yedgarian's Super Street car with his Joe Van Overbeek hood. It's a carbon fiber piece that would run about $1400 shipped from Ontario. It is not available as a bolt-on.

We are not looking to copy this hood especially with the lack of a valley between the nostrils but I wanted something that was more functional and not the same as everyone elses... it might be high to see over LOL. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Whats the point of a cowl hood on a LS1? It wont help fit a sheet metal intake becuase thats not a hood clearance issue. I dont see any advantage to it over a standard WS6 style hood besides weight, which isnt the issue.

Bolt-on will hopefully be around 25lbs, pin-on around 15 or less.

Stock hood is almost 50, and the OEM WS6 hood is around 40 lbs.

This hood will allow more room for custom intake manifolds and custom air intakes.
