Re: how many guys drive to the track???
I have driven to the track everytime in the last couple of years except for the trip to BG.
I've broke and had to be trailered back too many times than I'd like to remember.
My rule of thumb is to quit when the car acts up. I've had buddies tell me "my clutch is going away" and they go and make a few more runs DOY.
Reminds of of this one guy I think last year, his car died on the track, he/ we got it running, he should have drove home at that point, but NOOO he had to make another run and the died again. Musta been a pricey tow being 85 miles from home Jimmy.

I drive to the track most of the time. Even with the trailer around its faster to drive and swap tires than to load/unload the trailer. I have AAA+ so they'll tow me home up to 100 miles if need be.

Re: how many guys drive to the track???
I've driven my car to the track for the past 4 years since it was new. I broke 4 stock rears, burned up 8 clutches and was towed home only once due to the rear end grenading and taking the driveshaft out with it. I even drove home 130 miles with 7 teeth broken off the ring gear. I was also running the car 2 nights a week at the local track and raced it on the streets every Sat night.

Re: how many guys drive to the track???
both cars get driven to the track every time. nova has been driven to the division finals in Atlanta last year (6 hours each way) and Reynolds in 1999 (4 hours each way). BTW, buzzing along at 3500 rpm makes the flowmasters sing nicely!

Always. My usual trip to the track is around 265miles round trip. I wish I could afford a truck and trailer but I can't. If you don't drive it to the track, then it ain't a "street" car.

I trailer my Hot Rod to the track. It just make it alot easier on me and the little women. She likes to ride with me to the track so we can talk and have alone time.(time to talk)

Re: how many guys drive to the track???
Will not trailer till I hit 10's. I see way too many trailer queens at my track that run 12's and it turns my stomach.
Last time I was there I saw a Toyota get trailered in with a rotary motor and slicks run a perfectly tuned 14.14......WOW!!
I cant consciously back a 11 second car off a trailer.

Re: how many guys drive to the track???
I drive to another state(MD from Va) no trailor!
I drive the car to the track and I run it as I drive it. Skinnies and nittos Sway bar has never come off either. I trailored one time and that was to cecil county Md about a little over 3 hours drive. I only did that because I carried the gf and daughter up for that event since we all couldnt fit in the TA with luggage
but MIR is a 3 hour round trip for me every weekend
BTW: its a PITA loading and unloading the car on a trailor

Re: how many guys drive to the track???
I drive it. Either 110 mi each way, or 85 mi each way. Been lucky.....Ramp truck rides can be very expensive for that distance. Next year, I'm hoping to buy a reasonably priced trailer & tow w/my work (plmbg.) van. '95 Chev. G20. It would be nice insurance, and better for my blood pressure! Best wishes.
