Best M6 60' with nittos, 3.42 and ZO6 clutch?

High 1.8's here. That is with the old crappy stock clutch. I was holding at 3500....let clutch out right to where it starts to catch. On the 2nd yellow I slip it the rest of the way out. Not really riding it but definatly not a dump. Practice is the key. I'm sure you could cut low 1.8's with enough track time and practice.

1.849 w/Nitto's, 3.42's in a stock 10-bolt, stock 2001 clutch...12.039 @ 115.8 (N/A, stock-internal 6-speed).
Oh yeah, that was with a 3500-lb. raceweight, which for me is full interior and EVERYTHING in the car, including half a tank of gas, but with no front swaybar.
Launched by stalling to 4500 RPM's and NEARLY doing a complete dump. Nitto's were very new, and they tend to hook better when they're brand new. Couldn't slip the clutch too much, or my clutch would fry.

Friend of mine went a 1.62 60ft with 315's and a centerforce clutch car was a 2000 SS M6

Since we're not sticking to the restrictions, I wanna say the Colonel cut a 1.5X on Nittos a long time ago.

Rageman, I was looking at your sig and I just have to know how you got that car to run 120+ thru the traps? The DA must have been like -4000 ft. What do you normally go thru the traps at?

Larry01Z28 was cutting 1.82 or 1.84's on nittos and running 12.0's@116.9 stock internally/NA
its all in the burnout... heat them good and roast them to the tree to keep them hot
i cut 1.58-1.64's consistently, but I have a A4

I have cut a few 1.95-1.97 on RS-As. PRACTICE is the key! But I run the same on my DRS, fear of doing burnouts on the POS factory clutch

Not completely stock. At the time, I had Grotyohann longtubes, off-road Y-pipe, Borla catback (wide-open), lid, MAF, FTRA, ported TB, TB bypass, and a Pro 5.0 shifter. That's all that comes to mind right now, but for sure it was a naturally-aspirated stock internal motor with a stock clutch and stock 3.42 rear.
[EDIT: Oh, yeah, I'm pretty sure I had an MTI underdrive pulley by then, too.]

Re: Best M6 60' with nittos, 3.42 and ZO6 clutch?
I made several 1.83s and 1.84s in the SS on 275/40/17 Nittos. It was a hybrid slip/dump method from 5500 RPM I was useing. Only the spare and jack were removed but a bad *** stereo system (read: HEAVY!) took it's place. Mods were B&B Tri-flow exhaust, !cats, C/F driveshaft, FTRA, K&N, airlid, decreened MAF and...well, that's it. I think with more practice I coulda pulled 1.7s for sure. I ran a best of 8.10 in the 1/8th that day (this was late spring.)
And yes, I used to pull 1.51s on Nittos with the Z28 but that's beyond the scope of this discussion. I feel I could pull mid 1.4s on Nittos now.

Re: Best M6 60' with nittos, 3.42 and ZO6 clutch?
I pulled a 1.90 today with a 4K slip-dump. Felt like the clutch may be starting to slip a little bit. Run was 12.43 @ 115.85mph into a 15mph headwind.

I run a 1.79 and regularly see 1.80's on 16 inch nittos with a Centerforce d/f clutch . This is at No Problem raceway where the Thunder southern shootout is gonna be

Re: Best M6 60' with nittos, 3.42 and ZO6 clutch?
I don't know how you guys are launching at 4000 or even 5500. I just bought a set of salad shooters with BFG's on them and I had to luanch at 2500 rpm. and I was still spinning. My 60 ft. was 2.10. That is freaking horrible. But I did cut a 1.93 on my 275/40/17 Nitto's. I think i just need a lot more practice.

"I don't know how you guys are launching at 4000 or even 5500."
By not side stepping the clutch. Ok, so I have the Rs at 5500, I start letting the clutch out and my right foot hits the floor at the same time. I modulate the clutch so that I pull the Rs back down to about 4000-3500 but not below (or it'll bog.) I use the clutch to keep the Rs in this range reaching full clutch engagement before the Rs climb above this. I know this sounds like hell on the clutch but you have to realize that this is happening very quickly. As I said in my other posts it's kinda a hybrid dump/ride the clutch style launch. Call it a soft touch dump.
