9.783...in yucky weather.
Cecil County Today. Removed a little weight for a total race weight of 3294 lbs.
DA today was not good. Overcast skys (rained later in the day), high humidity and 51 degrees. We were right at sea level (0). I was down 1 MPH from last week. First pass out I spun to a 9.90 @ 136. Second pass out yielded a 9.82 @ 136.
Same thing as last week though, the track would not hold a launch off of the trans brake. When I tried that, it just spun the tires. All the 9 second passes were foot braking.
No changes at all to the motor. Still my little LS6 intake and TH-350 (that was for Joe...lol )
Third pass looked like this.
60': 1.299 That felt great!
1/8: 6.193
MPH: 109.79
1/4: 9.789
MPH: 136.07
Video: http://www.rapidmotorsports.com/978mikey1.wmv
Better Quality Video: http://www.rapidmotorsports.com/978mikey1h.wmv
Next pass yielded a new best shifting at a slightly lower rpm.
60': 1.350
1/8: 6.207
MPH: 110.25
1/4: 9.783
MPH: 136.88
video: http://www.rapidmotorsports.com/978mikey2.wmv
Better Quality Video: http://www.rapidmotorsports.com/978mikey2h.wmv
I ran two other 9.78x passes and called it a day.
All-in-all a decent day. No accidents thank God.

Re: 9.783...in yucky weather.
That's awesome, Mikey!!!! Makes me want a 9 second timeslip that much more!
How are you launching off the transbrake? WOT with no 2-step? My car would never hook until I used the 2-step to bring the starting line RPM down to ~3800rpm or so. May be something you should look into.

GeorgeC: I am foot breaking it. Only track that will hold the brake is Maple. I'll look into the 2 step, sounds like a good idea. The converter is stalling at 4900 so it's alot to ask the chassis to hold.
LSWon, Yeah we tried to put Steve Spohn in the car since he's 50 lbs lighter than me and they didn't like that too much. Wanted Steve to pay his $35.00

4th pass you had a
1.35 60ft

Question... How did you make up .05sec you lost in the 60ft time from run 3 to run 4 while only running .46 mph faster in the 1/8th. .05 sec at 60ft is like .15 or better in the 1/8 and your mph does not reflect enough of a change to do it. PS... It can be explained... Just another day of timeslip racing.

The t-brake release is violent, and just overpowers the tires/chassis. The two-step would likely solve all of that. It may not gain you any ET over a footbrake launch (my car does the same numbers either way), but it would give you consistency and repeatability.

hmm lets see, better sixty, but maybe a shift that wasnt as clean or on the same rpm as before, different engine/tranny temp, A different DA between passes, any number of a HUNDRED things can explain the difference. Look at the video and STFU.

Re: 9.783...in yucky weather.
Lighten up old guy...I was havin some fun with ya. I changed the shift points to 6600 and the car pulled harder through the gears. Doesn't seem to like being shifted at 7000 with the LS6 intake. Long story, but I bearly make through the traps with the 4.33 gear so I was letting the shift light on a while before I pulled the shift. Wish I could have got another 1.299 60' after changing the pill but alas the rains came.
