Default M6's What are you shifting at?

What are you M6 guys shifting, and launching at, at the tracks? What exactly are you doing during your launch (clutch/gas movement how much etc).

Tell me if I'm wrong or not, but on stock goodyear eagle f1's, I'm holding the clutch in till about 2700-3000rpm, then pretty much releasing it completely, but trying to keep my accelerator foot at the same constant pace at 2700-3000rpm while moving, till I can feel it hook. Then taking 1st gear out to 6000 slamming it into 2nd, then taking 2nd out to about 6000 again, and third to 5700. Am I doing something wrong? My best 60' is a 2.068 and my best ET is 13.38 @ 107.6.

That sounds about right but you might want to lower how hig you rev it at the line. Also to get a good 60ft. your going to have to slip the clutch a little. I use to race with Nitto's and thats what I would rev it at and I would spin sometimes also. One more thing is try to shift close has you can to 6000 in every gear.

I launch at 38-4200 at Cecil and even higher at Maple.Maple takes the high rpm dumps. I have cut my best short times there.
I always short shift 1st around 5600 on the slow tach. Every other gear I shift at 6200.

I launch at 5000-5500rpm on ET streets, shiftlight is on at 6600rpm. (though I am going to drop that to 6400rpm this season I think)
Cheers,
Chris

I launch at 6000-6500rpms on slicks and shift at 7,000 rpms.

I know that it is not much help for launching on street tires. If I remember right I launched at 2,000 to 2,500 rpms when I had a stock Hot Rod with the street tires and shifted at 5,800rpms.

Sounds to me you are doing a good job. Practice is the key.

Good luck to ya.

Sounsd like you are doing very well on street tires! Personally I think the number one thing to look into is a shift light so you don't have to watch the tach or worry about it being slow. If you do manage to slip your clutch a bit you might shave some time off but that is only if you are going all out and don't mind abusing your clutch

Personally I just drop the clutch at 6500 rpms on my Hoosiers and powershift at 6300, tried 6400 for the shift light but it was about 50/50 hitting the 6600 rev limiter
