Default Chassis Cert??

OK, so I've been doing the research on getting a chassis cert for 9.99 to 7.50.

Seems there isn't a set spec for a full bodied car in that range, but most go by SFI 25.1C or 25.1D

Can someone confirm that??

The NHRA rule book isn't too specific on it. Should I just go ahead and order the chassis spec from SFI??

The conversion for my cage is on the way, and plan to start ripping the interior out after christmas. Got a week off work

Just curious what I should add to the shopping list

Yes it is. Currently 8 point chromoly, TIG welded as required. The halo, pillar bars, and dash cross bar that are on the way are also chromo.

Your chassis should certify no problem as long as you have your rerquired 6x6 plates on the floor and your tubing will certify. I belive with moly they give you a 10% deviation in wall thickness but mild steel is like 1%. You will be good to 7.50 or 180 mph as this year you have to have a 25-1C car to run over 180.

Good luck
Phil

I'll probably go to Stanton instead though. Might as well go to a track that hooks if i'm gonna go to any track

That's what i mean, is there anywhere other than getting the SFI spec that will tell me that kinda thing??

Other than some small holes for gauge senders, and the plate over the heater hole the firewall is untouched.

In the early spring they have cert inspectors sometimes when the track isnt open. Check with them and they will give you dates when open.

I followed the cage stuff when i did the 8 point.

My biggest issue is about the rest of the stuff. Is the cert just on the cage or the full chassis as well?

Just wondering if I gotta do other stuff to the car. The main structure hasn't been altered, just welded to for the cage, subframes, etc.
