What's the limit on being hardcore?
Started out in 2000 with a few minor mods. (lid/catback)
In 2001 decide to upgrade suspension and tires
Late in 2001 decide to get the 422 and a cage.
In 2002 decided to convert to an auto and add nitrous.
Now, going to solid roller (won't be specific on specs, but more than 260 duration and 0.650 lift) and much higher stall converter.
Now I will soon be needing a 10-point, a physical, and an NHRA license.
The question to the drag racers: When does this stop? At this level? Or when I own my own top fuel team?
I will be sure to post the results from the latest combo once it is done. The insane thing is that I still plan on driving this car to work on occasion. Am I nuts, or am I more typical than I think?
<strong> You are hardcore when you consider a 4000 stall verter streetable <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> you harcore when you go solid roller <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> you are hardcore when you get a cage <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> .You meet all the requirements. </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">but a 4000 stall is streetable. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> isn't it? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

It's funny - I used to love the stuff on the street, but now find that hardcore drag racing at the track blows away everything. There is nothing quite like that lose-your-stomach-feeling because you car is taking off so damn fast. Kind of like a roller coaster, only faster.

I made the decision during my winter teardown to keep it simple, and not hunt for any more horsepower. I just don't want to go through what it takes to be 9-second legal at this point.
My motor just went back together exactly like it came apart. The only changes were fixing a couple of minor details. No more weight reduction, no more horsepower... I'm calling it done for now, and hopefully can keep my car in the 10.0-10.1 ET range in the summer heat...
It won't stop until you make it stop! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
I think this would be defined by each individual. After being somewhat hardcore for a while (TH350, 4.10s, turbo, cage, etc.), I wanted to drive my car more. I am now back to MN6, 3.42s, heads/cam, and N2O for the track.
I was going to keep it simple this off season but that went out the window very fast. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I know the snowball thing. Hell in 98 when this started, my car had a 305 and i barely knew how to change oil and spark plugs.
Ive come a long way since then! LOL
Most of the stuff I've replaced on my car is just an upgrade or maintenance item. If you want to go fast, you have to add power if you aren't gutting your car. In order to keep the car reliable you have to replace a whole shitload of parts!
Now if I could just keep an engine in one piece... <img border="0" alt="[evil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />
Hardcore to me isn't how fast someone is going. Its how much they would sacrifice in order to go faster. Guys with fully gutted out 346ci cars running deep in the 11s are far more hardcore than I am. I'm just hardcore at adding bigger engines I guess <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

My coworkers think I am hardcore for daily driving my car with just one seat and having a cam requiring over a 1/4" idle hole in the TB. At least this way I don't have to waste race gas by driving people to lunch <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">When you can have a DAILY DRIVER in Houston Texas year round with no A/C !!!! and no power brakes or no power steering just to gain a tenth or so.
Or when your daily driver tires are front runners with ET streets or full slicks. Even in a Houston monsoon. ( Don't recomend that one though.) ( Can you say 360 or 180 on I-10 in rush hour traffic with anything more than condensation on the street) I think slicks in the rain would be starting to cross the stupidity border though, and endagering public and personal safety, more so than being hard core , IF it is done on PURPOSE. Although soemtimes you just get stuck in the rain.
