Default M/T or Hoosier drag tire...which hooks better?

Anyone have personal experience with both the M/T and Hoosier compounds. I'm getting a 26x10x15 slick and am wondering which will hook better. I'm looking for consistant low 1.6's to high 1.5's in the 60'.

Thanks,
Craig

For me the M/T worked the best.

I just ordered my 28x10x15 last night. I had 26x11.5x15 Et`s and could only cut 1.63`s. I have A4 with 3.73 so my first gear is really low. I spun pretty good off the line into second spraying. I believe I will get more traction now!!

Hoosier's work better for me. Hoosier QTP vs. MT ET Streets.

I love my Hoosiers, but I was thinking about trying the Goodyears next. Any opinions on these? I think Coach is the only one I know who has ran these.

My 27" QTP's hook ten times better than my 26" ET Streets ever did. When my ET's got old, they wouldn't hook for ****. My Hoosiers dead hooked everytime. I'm on my second set and haven't looked back.

I've only ever been to the track one time on them.. but this past tuesday I ran 4 times on my MT ET streets and ran 1.69, 1.66, 1.66, and 1.63 on a stock suspension and Test & Tune track prep (totally sucked). When I ran the 1.63 I sidestepped the clutch at 6k and it spun just a few feet and took off... it kinda scared me it left so hard

I ran 1.57 on 26x10.5 ET streets and 1.50 on 26x8.5 ET drags.

Goodyears are by far are the best tires I have run. I am on my 3rd set this year and I have a new set in the garage waiting for the bracket finals.

The only down side is they cost alot.

On my brother's altered, Goodyears would hook better for a few passes and then go slowly away. Hoosiers would make dozens of passes consistently.

I've never run anything but M/T (figure if they continue to hook down to the cords, why switch?) Current 28.5 x 11 x 15 ET Streets has about 160 passes. Not many people in Florida I know run hoosier (except dragsters) and most run m/t with a few goodyears here and there.

I think you will better off with 28"s instead of 26"s.I run a 26" MT ET Street and cut 1.56 60ft.s with stock shocks ,struts and springs.I know that a 28" tire would give me a better 60ft.MT's work for me

I have a Goodyear hookup so hopefully they won't break the bank! What kind of life are you getting out of your tires?

Atta boy Gomer! 'Bout time you got that thing to the track.

I ended up going with the M/T ET Drags. I'm going from a 26x11.5x16 ET Street on a 8" rim to a 26x10x15 ET Drag on a 10" rim. Between the wider contact patch, more sidewall and softer compound they should be noticeably better. I'd rather have a taller 27-28" tire but I don't have enough gear as it is. I'm only crossing the traps now at 6300 or so and need to be crossing at 6800-6900.

Like Rick, I've used both and my experience is pretty much identical. Currently using Hoosier QTP 27x10.5x15 and like 'em.
