V6 weighed in at 3,000 pounds even last week!!!
Hee hee hee, cool stuff huh?
I've learned a lot from this site and others, but this one had the more technical posts.
Weight reduction for my little v6:
PA racing mild steel drag k member
PA racing mild steel lower a arms
Manual steering rack
Hal shocks
Front and rear bumper support gone
Radio and speakers gone
Sparco evo seat
A/C gone
Bolt on fiberglass ram air hood (pin on would have been lighter)
No STB
No passenger or rear seats
Stock carpet w/ sound deadening removed
Heat shields removed from exhaust
Loudmouth instead of reg cat back
floor mats gone
fog lights gone
Always 1/4 tank of gas for racing
Rear seat belts gone
spare tire and jack (AAA plus card is lighter!!)
sun visors gone
front sway bar gone
t top holders gone
windshield washer resevoir is always empty but still in car
1 piece alum d/s instead of 2 piece steel (It's a v6 thing, you v8 guys wouldn't have these <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> )
Weld drag lites (15 x 3.5's) w/ 175 80 BF radials
BF drag's mounted on salad shooter camaro rims
pro yank 3200 (actually was less weight than stock)
Full size optima relocated to back (added weight, but it is in the right place)
headers (yup, little baby v6 ones <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> )
side moldings gone
On the to do list:
Awaiting SLP 1.8 roller rockers for v6 (yup, they are lighter than stock!!)
ABS delete block
Both air bag's gone
Antenna and bracket (no radio)
Center console (I really like the Cheetah shifter and the stock console has sooo many squeaks and rattles)
I have 2 horns, maybe I only need one?
Parking brake assembly (along w/ center console)
Pan hard brace (Is this safe to remove??)
I'm waiting for my speed inc carpet to arrive
Cruise control???
Light weight front brakes
This week:
Ditched stock overlfow tank for summit mini catch can, 5 lbs reduction!!
This weeks weight reduction sould put it at the 2995 mark.
The 3,000 pound weight was done w/o driver and with misc tools and crap in the car. I probably had about 10 lbs MAX of crap n tools in the bird
Any comments, advice, or suggestions on my to do list?? This is NOT a daily driver, but is driven on the street.
I have not made any nitrous passes on the new weight. Last time out it weighed in at mid 3200's? and spun to a 12.48
I have just done n/a runs this season with the new weight and seen a best of 14.304!
Sure 14.304 isn't that impressive but this is from a car that put down 170 rwhp and 200 rwtq and only runs weeney 3:23 gears!
I know it is just a v6, but I am hoping to run 11's shortly. My fuel pump just arrived so finally I'll ditch the stock one

Good luck!!! I dont think 11's are going to be a problem <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
You'll really fly when you do an engine swap <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Cheers,
Chris

what are you going to use as the abs block.I heard that a 88 S-10 proportional valve works great. Any info. I am gutted way more then that. I don't weight in at that though. Then again i have stuff you didn't start with. I also have a 35th SE SS. Dumb me. Last time i weighed the car it was a 3270 with me in it. I just took 48lb out of the engine compartment today. I need to do the K-member and A-arms. I still have stock struts up front also. That is a big chunck of change.

I'm still working on lightening it up.
I should be back to spraying shortly and maybe with some luck I'll be in the 11's
