Default Got any motor suggestions?

Well the 422 is dead.

Finally got the car all together with all the upgrades. We sorta took a crapshoot with the motor that it was OK internally. That bit me in the ***...hard!

Fired right up,and after a bit it started leaking oil. Cracks now readily visable under the rear cover, and into the mains. Hasta la Bye bye...too bad soo sad! Wheelstands freaking suck!

So now I gots me a rolling chassis thats been freshly cert'd for some serious et's. What kind of motor would you drop in it?
N/A stroker, stock cube nitrous or FI, or some other setup? Open to suggestions and builder recomendations.

We have a good idea what we are gonna do, but its always good to hear more ideas.

Needless to say I don't think the car will be at the ls1tech shootout.

Well since the car is already set up for an all motor or nitrous car you could always just build a nice solid roller setup a 200-300 shot. If you want to go FI then I would go with turbo setup. Rob of LS1 Motorsports is selling his motor maybe you could talk with him about the cost to switch your setup that drasticly.

I think you should do what Terry suggested.
Go for the bolt on record.
Then the cam only record.
The the Heads/Cam record.
Then the 346 with nitrous record.

That will keep you busy!

I personally think it would be cool to see what a stock internal car would run if maxed out. 10.7-10.8s? Then, do like Mike H. said.... cam only, heads and cam stock shortblock, etc. Would be interesting what all of the above combos would run in the same car, where variables from different cars (weight, suspension, driver, etc) could be nullified. I would like to see how a purpose built car would perform with the above modifications.

Go with a c5r setup run na.

Might want a dry sump setup too for high revvin fun

after seeing all the problems with the sleves, i would try the 382" stroker route and spray the **** out of it. cheaper and dependable, unlike the big bores.

Larry, I'm a bit confused (as usual )... It sounds like the only issues you have are with the block? Why not just get a new block?

I say you do a 427 c.i. 9:1 compression motor w/about 15-18psi...

That should take care of things..

LS1 motorsports single turbo, or a aggressive blower/cogs setup...

Thats what we are pursuing..but if I get a new block for the 422 it might not go back in the car. Always looking for other Ideas .

A C5R isn't going to happen. Lot more money involved in that buildup than most people really understand.

Go iron block with a huge shot. The iron should be stonger and should help keep the front end down. Run a fogger with a sheetmetal intake, .700+ roller and as much squeez on flat tops you can get away with. Should cost about the same as replacing that big bore block and take alot more abuse.

I think you should run a 90mm turbo on a forged 346... Parts shouldn't be too hard to come by..

turbos rule

do something different...

go with a destroked ls1 based motor and spin the **** out of it with a high compression ratio. do it like the Limited Street NMCA guys do with a 360cid limit and no power adder. just a thought

Terry had a good idea but that would put you back in the high tens or low 11s.

YOU WONT BE HAPPY!!!

I say build a twin turbo motor with an iron block and the best ls6 heads. You could make 800+ rwhp and it would be a low maintenance motor.
