trailer length 16' or 18' I am checking out a trailer at appalachian trailers. it's a 16ft diamond plate car trailer w/ dove tail.
7000GVW, brakes on both axles, breakaway kit, self storing ramps, 82" between fenders, safety chains. $1,495
sounds like a good deal.
is 16' long enough?
82" between the fenders enough room?

Re: trailer length 16' or 18' I like a slightly longer trailer, since I have a smaller truck. The longer trailer gives me better options for exactly where to position the car for the ideal tongue weight so it pulls well.
My current trailer (that I just got) is 19ft overall (16ft. flat, 3ft. beavertail). The deck rides a little higher than most (for a lot of fender clearance for the doors to open), so I had to have the ramps made longer (6ft.) for the front bumper of the car to clear the back of the trailer with no problems.

Re: trailer length 16' or 18' I'm not sure about those measurements. But make sure your door can clear the fenders of the trailer. I'll make my way outside in the morning and measure our trailer here and see what the width and length of it is.

Re: trailer length 16' or 18' I have an 18' Trail King with the 3' beavertail. Total length from tounge to tail is about 24'9". It tows so damn smooth on the highway. It has dual axles with electric trailer brakes. I'm going to extend the ramps to about 6' or a little longer to make it easier to get the car up on it. The doors clear the fenders just fine. I also just bought some load leveling bars to even out the ride for those long trips from the north down south! It's a great setup.

Re: trailer length 16' or 18' I also have an 18ft trailer and wouldn't recommend anything smaller. Its the way to go if not going the enclosed route. With the extra lenth you can sit the car back further on the trailer and take alot of weight off the tongue. That helps alot.

Re: trailer length 16' or 18' I sell trailers at my shop and I too, would get the 18fter..only $200 more usually..and if you decide to sell it..always can sell a bigger one, not smaller...
good luck..oh, make sure its a halfway decent one..I have had the cheapos and the nice ones..now we only sell the $2000-2500 ones..much better..

Re: trailer length 16' or 18' Terry, I have the 18' appalachian trailer with the same dimentions you are talking about. It is plenty wide and I can open the doors over the fenders. The ramps you get with the trailer are 5' long and are more geared for a bob cat or construction equipment. I had 10' aluminum ramps made for mine.
