Default Would it be safe and legal to double up on the lugnut washers?

I have Bogarts and just recently installed my Strange 12 bolt with standard studs, but no one carries a lugnut with a shank 1" or close shank. I need a 1/2" x 20 open end shank style chrome lugnuts with a 1" or close shank length, but the only thing Ive come across is a .746" and a 1.365" shank length. I really didnt want to go with the .746 because Im afraid its going to be too short. It brings the shear point further out, has less contact on the threads, and would have a better chance of shearing off a stud. Anyhow, I was thinking of just going with the 1.365" and doubling up on the washers. I was wondering if it would be safe and legal to do so. The width of the wheel from the outside of the wheel where the washer makes contact to the inside of the wheel/spacer, it measures 1.23". Then the washer thickness is .127". So both of them together total a measurement of 1.357". So the 1.365" shank length lugnut will be .049" too long. I would grind the shank down, but then it voids the warranty and the lugnut will corrode according to McGard. So what should I do? Thanks.

Bogart has lugnuts to fit their wheels. If not buy the long shank version and I can cut them down on my lathe. DO NOT double washer.

I ground a set of lugnuts down with the bench grinder. No big deal. A lathe would defintely have been nicer, though. But the grinder works.

Just out of curiousity, why do you say not to double up on the washers? If I buy the longer ones, then Id rather cut them down with a lathe or a machine that will give a nice cut rather than use a grinder.

MADMAN: Sent you a PM. Thanks.
