My Bogarts just came in!!!
Now, I need to decide on tires. My car is lowered 1 inch and I am running 4.11 in a 12bolt with a M6. I should be ready to start the H/C mod in late Dec.and hoping for mid 450hp.
I am looking for a tire that can give me a good 60's in M6 car.
I want to use a 26" tire and be able to hook with a 6,000 launch.
Is this possible with a DOT tire like the new MT DR 275/50/15?
I have read a lot of good stuff about this tire, but it is always in an AUTO.
Or should I go with an MT 26/10.5/15 Drag or MT ET Street 26/11.5/15 or M&H Cheater slick 26/11.5/15.
These tires will be only for the race day. I like the idea of being able to install them at home then drive to the track and home, but I don't want any traction issues and haven't heard of to many M6 cars hooking on DOT tires.
What do you recommend?

Fireball, I also have heard the same about the 26/10.5/15 MT Drag working good on M6 cars.
That will be my first choice if I can't find a tire that works good and is DOT approved.
1.5 and 1.47 are awesome 60's!
What was your race weight when you got those 60's?

How much does the tire weight matter?
MT Street DR 275x50x15 weight 30 lbs
MT ET Street 26x10.5x15 weight 20 lbs
MT Street DR 26x11.5x15 weight 22 lbs
MT Drags 26x10x15 3053 L8 weight 22 lbs
MT Drags 26x10x15 3053c L4 weight 19 lbs
What is the different in the Two MT Drags, they have different weight and compound?

I think the 3052c is for front wheel drive cars. Check out M/T web site and see.
I just switched from a 26x11.5x16 ET Street on an 8" rim to a 26x10x15 ET Drag on a 10" rim. HUGE, and I mean HUGE, difference in traction. Before it would spin 8' or so launching at 6200. Without changing anything but the tires, it was bogging hard and dead hooking. I made 4 passes on the new tires before blowing the posi up.
I wouldn't drive the ET Drags very far on the street though. Personally, I would never waste my time again with a DR or DOT tire in a manual trans car.

I run the 26x10-15 ET drag and I am really impressed with it. The difference between it and the 26x10.5-15 ET street is daylight and dark. I've cut loads of low 1.6x and a few high 1.5x 60's with a best of 1.52 all on the stock suspension.

I've had a ton of tires on the same car (my previous Formula).
26x11.5x15 ET Street (only works on awesome prepped track, very inconsistent)
26x10.5x15 ET Drag (worked great, good for mid 1.5s consistently)
26x10.5x15 Hoosier slicks (worked same as ET Drag, but more stable on top end)
28x10.5x15 ET Drag (worked great, more consistent than 26s, cut high 1.4xs)
Overall, I like the Hooser slicks better. They have a stiffer sidewall than M/T and are less likely to twist the tires and cause any bog. They hook about the same, but feel MUCH safer on the top end due to that sidewall.
I just put some new 28x10x15 Hoosiers on my '69 tonight

How did your 60's compare between the MT ET Street Mt ET Drags?
It sure sound like should go with the 26x10x15 MT Drags.
What pressure are you running in the MT Drags and what RPM are launching at?
Thanks for your help.

hoosier is a great tire. but, take alook at the m&h racemaster tire www.intercotire.com when the m/t tires don't hook(never for me) the m&h will. i cut 1.57 60's m6 car stock 3,700ish lbs with me in it. i use the 26x11.5 cheeter slick.

Thanks for all of your advise. I am now leaning towards 26x10x15 MT Drags.
Someone mentions that I look into 275x50x15 M&H Muscle Car Drag Race Tire.
They are Wrinkle Wall and Tubeless. I do like the fact that I could drive to the track race then drive home on these. But! I still need somethink that will hook a M6 launching at 6,000.
What do you think?
Does anyone have experience with these tires?
Thanks

i drive to and from the track and all weekend on the m&h cheeter slick tires w/tubes.i launch at 6,500rpm's m6 3,700lbs w/me in it and cut 1.5 60's. what more do you need? i think too many people go with m/t tires because of the name,i feel there are way better tires out-hoosier and m&h racemasrer.

i have had 26x11.5x15 et streets and never hooked well at all.
i put on some 28x10x15 et drags and went 1.48 after a few passes, with upgraded suspension im going consistand 1.45-1.47 range with a best of a 1.43. the best way to get a m6 to hook consistantly is a 28" tire, but thats just my 02, even if you went with another brand, m6 cars like 28" tires better from my experiences and others i have talked to. so if you are willing to change gears, get some 28" cheater slicks that you can drive to the track on.

What rpm were you crossing the line in and where did your motor make peak power? 28" tires seem kinda tall with a 4.11 gear, but I guess it didn't hurt that you were making a butt load of torque to get it out of the hole
