Default What ET is considered legit?

What I'm asking if lets say I have an experienced driver take my car down the track & that person blasts off lets say a 11.99 where as my old best was lets say a 12.5 because I can't launch worth a ****.

Which ET would be considered legit & could I say I hit the 11's?

BTW, my car is only a 13.42 car, with me driving.
I'm just using easy arbitrary #'s for the sake of this post.

I was always under the impression if you didn't do it, even though your car did with someone else, it "didn't count".

Am I wrong or does the lS1 world look at ET's differently that I'm accustomed to?

Thanks.

I drive my own car to my own personal best ET's however, I don't see it as a big deal if the owner of a car has an alternate driver take his car for a rip down the track to achieve better ET's. The alternate driver isn't always a better driver. It could be the owner is a very large person.

I do however see it as a big deal when an owner rags on another owner for using an alternate driver to achieve better ET's, then turns around a few years later and does the same damn thing himself and now its OK to use this alternate driver ET as a personal best. Now that's bullshit. But who cares anyway. I drive my own stripped out trailer queen every week.

It's fine if you say "the car has gone 11s....but not with me driving."

Exactly!!!!
As long as your letting people know the DA/RACE WEIGHT AND WHO WAS DRIVING it doesnt matter to me.I for one like to eat so being 6FT 2IN and 360lbs has hurt my cars race weight alittle bit,I let my buddies (who put my car at a realisitc weight) run my car from time to time.

Experience wise,I've ran/owed cars that I've driven to 9.50 all the way to 14.1.
The truth is I really should lose weight for my health, after all I'll be 40 in 2 months

In total agreement on Tom's response. If someone ran faster in my car than me, I'd definately say "car's been in the 11.20's" instead of "I've run 11.20s". This could be the reason no one else but me has raced my car in about a year

It doesn't matter. If you put a number in your sig of say 11.70, but you can only drive it to a 12.10, you will get embarrassed someday when you line up on a "slower" car and it rapes you.

Lots of folk post the car's best ET as opposed to their own ET.

Everybody around here always asks "What'll your car run?" and not specifically "What will your car run with you driving it in 92.38 degree heat with a DA of 350' and a quartering tailwind of 17mph?" So when they ask me the first question I just tell 'em it'll run 8.20's in the 1/8th. However, it won't do that with my 6'2" 350+ pound large **** driving. I answered the question truthfully though. Am I wrong???

I always answer "it has gone XX.XX @ XXX.X on a X.XX 60' at XXXXXXXXX raceway". No one knows what their car can run if ideal conditions, so why not just say how fast it has gone. That's it! In my situation, my wife drives our cars down the strip ... so I can't say I drove the cars to those ETs, just it has gone that fast.

The car is what we are interested in, not who is driving it. Its the car that runs the time. A better driver just shows its true potential.

No big deal, just be honest.....or learn how to drive

I agree its about what the car will do, as long as you dont go around saying you ran those times.

While in highschool my small block Regal ran 13.2's a buddie of mine with a SBC in his S-10 ran some 13.4's but had someone run a 13.1 in it. he always tried to give me **** how he was faster than me. I said maybe the trucks faster but if you cant put down the #s yourself then shut the **** up, "I ran my own 13.2"
Me & this guy also argued about who had more motor. I said i did cus my car weighed more, then he tried to say that his s-10 was heaver than my car......ahhh, i miss the highschool BS
