Light Weight Carpet I think I have decided to go ahead and install professionally made and cut light weight carpet instead of buying the cheap stuff.
Speed Inc or Year One Carpet?
The Year One has sound deadening and only weighs 17lb from what I am told. The Speed Inc does not, not sure of weight??? And this is a daily driver so the sound deadening would be nice.
Any opinions?

speed inc has some sound stuff, and either way the sound will change.
i think my speed inc was 13 pounds after the sound stuff was off. probabaly about the same.
i have the speed inc, im happy with it, so

you by any chance know how much the stock carpet weighs?

tim, im pretty sure it was about a 30 pound weight savings. so 40-45 pounds for the stock pig. lol

Ya actually I just looked at Speed's website and it says it comes uncut.

It was a pain on mine. It didn't want to peel off, it tried to come off in little handfuls, leaving a lot behind. I weighed what I took off, and it came in around 8 lbs.
When you have the carpet out, you can take out some of the other sound deadening and insulation on the tunnel, the part over the gas tank, and where your feet go under the dash.
If you cut a square out from under each of the 4 seats, you save another 4 lbs...

I just weighed my stock carpet. With all the sound deading ripped off it's just a touch over 23lbs. Easy 10lbs savings by making the switch to the speed inc.
BTW: If you take the carpet out of the car and stick it in the sun. The sound deadening will come off much easier.
Also, in the rear hatch well there is a black sticky matt over where the muffler would go. Get out your gasket scraper and go to town for another 3lbs of removal. While your at it you might as well get out the spot weld drill bit and remove any unesessary bracket in the car (rear seat brackets and seat belt brackets).
