Talking Rear back seat weight?!?!

I was considering taking out my rear seats (leather) any ideas on the expected weight loss?

Also, does anyone have any ideas or pictures of what to do with the empty space back there?

Thanks.

Not sure on weight but, just take your seats out and see how you like it, if not put em back in. I have taken my back seats in and out at least 20-30 times this year!

Just weighed mine today without seatbelts and such. 28lbs for the backrest and the two buckets, leather from a 94. This was done on an expensive scale that's fairly accurate.

Check the sticky out for weight reduction. They say 19lbs.

i'll try to dig them out tonight and put them on our scale at work. i'd have a hard time believing that the back ALONE is 28lbs. not calling you a liar, just one of those things that you have to see for yourself when it sounds off by so much.

Ok, 27 lbs, so shoot me. Was rounding up for the box when shipping.

The rear seat back is 19 lbs in my case.

ok, i didn't see the bucket part. however, i weighed mine at work today since we were slow, and the seat back, buckets, and total belts/brackets/guides, came in at 29 lbs. out of a 98 and up camaro. i don't know if it was 29.01, or 29.99, or anything in between.......but 29.

so it sounds like it would be a good idea to pull the seats when racing....

28 for rear seats...
35 or so for passanger leather....
48 for power leather driver.....
=111 pounds..... -15 for racing seats = 96 pounds lost for race day.

You guys actually have the backseat in the car still? Thats odd
Another benefit of !backseat, gives up plenty of room for a pair of slicks and front runners, tool box, 5gal race fuel and all the other **** we need!

Front Pass=40
Rear total=23.5
Belts each=3

Total all seats and belts=124.5

So with a set of Kirkey seats and light brackets you can cut out almost 100 Lbs. Add carpet to that anf you are at ~125 Lbs. Not bad.

wow, they don't feel THAT heavy lol.

I guess I am going to have to recheck the weights again, although I don't have a fancy scale like Birdie does.
