Default Slick question.....

My car is going 122 to 124 now running a 26X10X15 ET Drag.I'm going threw the traps at 6400,I believe with alittle more weight reduction (100 to 150lbs) the car has a legit 124 to 126 MPH in it.

Do u guys think at this speed I could now step up to a 27in Slick?Hoosier or M/T make it and this way I'd get alittle more rollout and should cross the lights about 6400 to 6600.My shift point is 6500/6600 and thats right where I wanna go threw the traps.

IMO a 28 would be alittle too big...
I've heard the 27in slicks dont seem to hook real well?

a 27 inch slick would cut about 50-175 rpm off your top end rpm. I went from a 26 x 10 to a 27.5 x 9 and went from crossing at 6100 to 5900 rpm.

Agree with Derek. You would lose rpms at top end with bigger tires -- unless you added a little "gas" to it . BUT if you want to go with 27, the ET Drag 28x9 are actually on 27.3". Worked fine for me. Never had a problem with them hooking.

Well picking up 2 mph would add another 300 rpm to my setup according to my calculations so I might try the 28X9 or the 27X10 real soon.I'm finishing up a fuel system on a LT1 car and then my car comes back into the shop for some more modding

10.70's or bust

Joel you should try a Hoosier 26x10 slick. Look at how JFM's car was hooking and running that day at the rental. I also think the hoosier 26" tire is a little taller then the MT 26" tire..

Stepping up my 3.73 geared A4 '94 Z28 from 26" DR's to 27" Hoosier Quick Time Pros seemed to drop my RPM in the traps by 300 (!).

Now, I did not use any math formulas. This is just from observing my tach... which could be off. Oh, and my MPH dropped by 1.5 consistently with the taller tires.

Without checking data via a autotap or software the tach rpm couldve been off,but thats about right for your tire change. Its more like 200 rpm according to my math so I figure 122MPH with my 26 and a 4.10 should be right around 6470 and if I went 126 it would be 6700 but I'd like alittle more roll out so thats why I feel the 27in tire might be **** for me.I'm looking into the Hoosier slicks,if there alittle taller than a MT that would be the perfect tire for me..
