This is not a spindle mount, but I think you'll get the idea what it will take. This is our new bolt in kit that will be available shortly.

Can someone explain how a spindle mount works? Are there wheel studs in a spindle mount?

The brake rotor is bolted to the wheel. The wheel has the races for the bearings on the spindle. So in other words the big nut that holds the hub and bearings on a stock car now holds everything on a spindle mt.

The wheel is lighter and the brakes. The down side is you only get a 2 piston caliper which on these heavy cars I dont think is enough brake.

Yes, my car weighs 2400 with me in it versus 3400-3600 for Fbodies, plus mine is a tube chassis.

Brian,
Have you used the Strange spindle mount yet with the 1 piston floater caliper? Hope it works!

That setup Kurt scares me on these heavy cars. We have put a set on a V6 comp car but it only weighed 1800lbs.

We have it on a car that needs to weigh 3100 but I am planning on driving it slow. If I don't stop, will you help me pull it out of the sand even if its a LS1?

To remain a stock style style suspension setup it has to be custom fab'd. No one makes a kit that will work. The billingsley setup looks to be just your average spindle mount strut. That setup was outlawed in Thunder due to the fact it is not the factory style front suspension because it removes the upper A-Arm. All I did was purchase a strange Spindle mount front brake kit and then had custom plates built to hold the caliper and still using the HAL F-body struts. You also need spindle mount front wheels. The other thing that is needed to be purchased is everything that comes in the Strange 4th Gen brake kit minus the rotor and Caliper. You use the spindle that comes with that kit. I can put a kit together for anyone who wants to do this setup.

Also this week I'm having a dual rear caliper bracket being made for the GM bolt pattern for a 9" or 12 bolt.

Rick,

We bought a bolt on kit from Strange recently. It may be a new number though.
