Lightbulb Wheelwell cut for 28x10.5W tire

I know some have asked for a pic.

here are the tires on the car

http://home.comcast.net/~bkrzewinski/carrear.jpg

3 things were required on my car to get clearance:

1) cut the lower area off on the forward section of the wheelwell. I still need to box in the the exposed "square" area

http://home.comcast.net/~bkrzewinski/mod_wheelwell.jpg

2) cut out the bumpstop

3) BFH the remaining areas of the wheelwell that was still tight.

**** man, I didn't have to do anything to get my 28x10.5's to fit, the only thing I did was cut the bumpstop, cuz I heard it might get in the way and didn't want to take any chances. I even had 28x11.5 ET Drags on the car once with no problems.

Have you made a run with them yet? I ran them on my TA and they rubbed big time on front and back of fender. Took off about 1/2 lb of rubber (no kidding) on one run alone. I've since had some bodywork but haven't picked up the car yet.

I've ran 28" tires before w/o issue. I did notice that the wheelwells on T/A are very inconsisitent. I have tons of room on one side (front to back) and alot less room on the other side of the car.

I just mounted a pair of 28x10.5S and i noticed the same thing. the passanger side is tighter/less room than the driver side.

Brian:

What backspacing/wheel combo?

Any spacers in the rear?

That section you cut down at the bottom, did that actually make a hole into the interior of the car?

Speaking from personal exp. Its not hard, Just time consuming. Had to do a lot of cutting (front & rear outter fender well) Had to use a "BIG" hammer with help from a air hammer on the inner fender well, and remove bump stops. Inner fenderwells rubbed a little on the dyno, Did more hammering and it took care of that. My customer had it out at the track this weekend with "NO" tire rub. The tires fit on there NICE.

Thank god for wheelie bars!!!

Brian, you still on stock brakes right, im fixing to try and get my w's to fit but im on strange brakes to its almost like you have a spacer and i dont if i run a 7.5 backspace. im thinkin of just going with a 6.5 with no spacers and see what happens, i wish there was a 7" backspace rim

about how much space do you guys have between the tire and the outer edge of the fender in the front and back? I have 28x10.5x15 and Ive only got about 1 finger width and thats after beatin the crap out of the fender. I have 35 psi in the tires for mounting purposes.....any idea on how much that tire expands during the burnout or the run?

Are you asking about a 10.5 "W" or a regular 10.5? Your gonna have to cut the outter fenderwell (a bunch) to fit the 10.5"W". You may still need to cut a little bit for the regular 10.5 . Hope this helps.

do you mean that with race brakes the 7.5's cant be clearanced to fit? cause i know race brakes fit all rim backspaces, just not sure if the rim will be able to fit the car with a "w" tire even if i beat the **** out of it. my 325 radials have to have small spacers to clear the inside of the fender and im assumin the w's have a similar width to them, which is why im thinking about the 6.5's, that would be like brians car having 7.0 instead of 7.5 backspace, so mine would stick out maby the thickness of a cd case more than his do

brian, you have any side views of your tires on teh car?
