They should hook just as good at your power level, close to my 02 Formula. Going from a 26" to a 28" tire will take away some gear, like going from a 3.73 to a 3.42 or 3.23. You might lose about 1mph and 0.05sec. With more tire under you it should make hooking better and consistant even on a bad track prep.

Depending on your set up your car could bog a bit off the line. Like Caveman said it's like taking away gear but I think it'll hurt your performance a bit more than he said.

On a 26X10.5 ET street with 4.11's I went 7.52@94.3mph with a 1.72 60' time in the 1/8. I changed to a 28X10 Goodyear slick and got the N/A time in my signature.
I dropped about a tenth in the 1/8 and a little over 1mph in the 1/8. My 60' time was about tenth better but in turn dropped mph. The bigger tire will deffinately make it feel a bit more sluggish mph wise, but the better 60' will make up the E/T and then some.
I haven't changed rear end gears do to the nitrous. N/A 4.56's would be the best choice for the tire size, but on the nitrous, I would run out of gear in the 1/4. If you do not plan to add an horsepower in the future, or go any faster, a rear gear swap may also be a good decision if you plan on a bigger tire.
