Default solid motor mounts

I have heard of solid motor mounts cracking aluminum blocks putting out alot of torque. anyone have any info to back this up. obviously with such a concern a plate would be the way to go, but for the class i am building my car a plate isnt allowed.

I want to run solid mounts but i now have this concern to address. now i am leaning towards poly mounts and maybe add some limiters to the engine and the trans.

input, thoughts, ideas all are apreciated.

this is a high hp, high compression, n2o beast leaving from a trans brake.

I have solids on mine. I think the main thing is to make sure not to get a solid trans mount also. I have a poly trans mount. I have only made about 50 passes at 7.51-7.64 1/8th but I don't see any problems as of yet.

I run Spohn solid motor mounts and never had a problem. Harlan ran Madman solid motor mounts two years ago and cracked a block. The two types of mounts are radically different, so it's not entirely a fair comparison. Also, I do not believe Madman even sells them anymore. If you are worried too much about it use a poly mount with a torque strap.

what's different between the spohn and the madman?
what exactly are you refering to as a torque strap? is that limiting the bushing or are you refering to a tq limiter?

The Spohn motor mount uses a significantly thicker top and bottom plate, larger gussets and a larger primary support tube.

A torque strap is a piece of strapping that you bolt typically to the cylinder head and tie it into the frame rail. This prevents the engine from twisting under torque. Call it what you want.

ive heard that you're supposed to use a solid transmission mount with solid motor mounts. maybe its different for certain applications. just curious though

well i am going to run is the poly mounts and dual engine limiters. and no never run both solids, you will snap off the tail shaft of the tranny if you are making any serious amount of power.

Do not run a solid trans mount with the solid motor mounts. You might find that to be a little bit too much stress for that setup to deal with.
