Default Is my car making enough power to run 10's?

I wasn't sure where to post this question so I thought this would be a good place?

I just had Heads & Cam installed by Cartek.
Julio dyno tuned the car today.

I was very happy with the results.

432.1 HP & 384.6 TQ

This is with a 4L60E transmission, steel drive shaft & Moser 12 bolt.
Through the cats no less! (I built the driveline first)

The only engine mods were the 3X cam and they ported my stock 241 heads and an underdrive pully. (I had a lid, Kooks headers, and Corsa catback)

Stock waterpump, No short belt, No ported throttle body, No ported intake, no free ram air trick, no MAF screen removed, none of that stuff, the car was bone stock (engine wise) when I brought it to them.

I was hoping to make 400 RWHP and figured I would add all of the above down the road. I wanted to get the big part of the job out of the way.

So is this enough power to get me in the 10's. Cartek say's it is?

PS. I also want to thank Cartek (Julio, Dave, Roy and Rich) since they are LS1 tech sponsors, for a job well done.

if you shave some weight off i doubt you would have a problem with hitting 10's

awesome numbers ... but i think runnin a number at the track is gonna depend on a lot of other things too ... like how much your car weighs, what stall, suspension/traction, etc ... but to answer your question, is it enough power to go 10's?... i'd say yes

Sorry for leaving out important details:

The car is a 2002 Camaro Z28 HT & Weights 3500 lbs with me in it

It has 3:73 gears and a 3800 stall Vig. multi disc.
(I want to be able to lock it up on the big end)

The tires are 26" tall. 255/50-16 BFG Drag Radials

They are in Garwood NJ. In Union County. About half way up the state.

I can't wait to take it to the track. But it is closed. That is why I am asking.

you've posted 3 times and you're question has been answered elsewhere. 438 equals mid 11s because my '99 makes 439 and runs 11s.

I posted them all at the same time. Someone told me that is what you should do if your thread does not have a specific theme, because not every one (obviously) reads every thread. That way you get a good cross sectional response. I have seen many others do it without anyone saying anything?

Nevertheless, Bickelfirebird, What gears does your car have? What is the stall? How tall are your tires and how much does it weigh?
I could use this information for comparisons sake.
As you can see (from my multiple threads) I am getting some that say yes and some that say no? This is exactly why I posted this question.

it doenst matter if that is what you run with that power. every car is different. i know a guy that has a hotcam, macs, pulley, and a st3500 stall with very minimal weight reduction and just a few suspension things done and he runs 11.5's! he might have 350-360 at the wheels he said. so it doesnt really matter what someone else runs with that same power

RWHP will give you a "baseline" on the MPH the car should run at a given weight. By the calcs I use to design our class racing stuff...The car should run ~117MPH trapspeed, which in a perfect world at 3500#s will run 11.20s....If I were to "guesstimate" with the little I know about your car setup and driving style, track conditions etc....I'd bet good money on 11.50s to 11.90s...With perfect gearing/converter and chassis setup as well as low rotating mass/unsprung weight....You should see bottom 11s. You see that is what I am talking about. I see some guy's go like a rocket with minimal mods lets say "cam only" then I see other guys with blowers and N20 that cannot get into the 10? So I know the total combination has a lot to do with it.

I believe Bicklefirebird when he say's mid 11's because it seems right at face value. Then when I see what some other people are running with less or equivalent power it makes me question it?

Cartek has also built many 10 sec. H&C cars. (one of the reasons I went with them) so I also tend to belive them when they and others say 10's is possible?

All this speculation is killing me. I can't wait for the track to open.
I am just afraid I am going to grenade the stock tranny?

did you guys not see the "3800 stall Vig. multi disc" ???

arent those underrated like 400rpm?

i think with a ~4200 stall and 386TQ.. depending on where that power is made..

nevermind..

It also depends on location, track temp, track prep, weather, density altitude, etc. Is it enough in a perfect setting with a great driver, sure... 10s would be easy in that case.

Is it enough if you were racing in Denver or in the middle of Death Valley in the dead of summer, or on a track where prep is **** poor? Probably not...

All I can say is:
Traction
If you have traction, I would not be surprised if you could pull it off.

Death Valley in the winter would be pretty damn good; there's some good thick air there with the elevation being below sea level. I know people that tood their sand machines to the dunes there and they were amazed at how much power they had.

You will need atleast a 4000rpm stall, race weight of 3500lbs and a good tire/suspension. 430hp will do it if it really is 430hp

well seeing as how a stock internal motor is already in the 10's the answer would be yes

you have enough power to, wether you do ......

slightly my transmission took a dump in death valley (Atco)

I agree and Cartek has built a quite a few 10 sec. H&C cars.

Very impressive numbers for not having all the bells and whistles.
Properly set up, at Atco, I believe it could go 10's NA.
However, that stock trans is going to fail.
