Welding questions for roll bar.

If you have a 4" x 6" base plate how much weld stitch do you need on each side of the plate to be NHRA legal?

How thick is the floor pan on an fbod? 0.100"?

Typically, the whole thing needs to be migged to the floor. No stitch welding. The floor pan is going to be approximately .035, depending on where you weld.

and the pads need to be 6"x6".

You donot weld the plates all the way around. Stitch them in one inch and skip an inch. If you weld the all the way around you weaken the floor and the plate could punch thru.

MAdman would this just be for us f-body guys cause the floor is so thing? or is it for all cars? and this is good for tech then right?

I could be wrong, Madman feel free to kick me in the etherballs if so, but you want to stitch weld about 1", then go to the opposite side of the plate, and continue. If you weld in a constant bead, you will warp the **** out of the floor, and make it brittle. So, just use a little stitch here and then there, until you have the plate finished. My buddy and I tacked the mainhoop down, then alternated between the two sides, stitching along. No warpage, burn though or issues.
