Default Do all you M6 guys powershift at the track?

Trying to improve my track times and everybody is telling me I should do this but I have never really powershifted before. Do you guys all do this at the track? How do you have your clutch pedal setup if so?

PS don't ask about my track times,, they suck but I think its move of a driver problem than a car

For clarification puposes powershifting is keeping your foot on the gas during the shifts and using the clutch.

My Z06 is a 12.0 car granny shifting,if I keep my foot on the floor it runs 11.7's.

Powershifting is good for 2-3 tenths if you know how to do it.

I have fubarred a couple shift forks and 3rd gear over the years in a couple different cars while learning how.

I wouldn't recommend it if you aren't prepared to fix your tranny.

I power shifted once and had to replace my trans. But yesterday i powershifted again on my last run and picked up .2 tenths with a rebuilt T56 and spec3 clutch.

my clutch is setup exactly the same so i barely have to push in on the clutch and i barely lift up on the gas pedal.

I've tried power shifting on motor and didn't really pick up anything, a couple hundredths, power shifting on n2o resulted in the clutch slipping down the track.

Well I went out and tried powershifting today, I thought my tranny was on the way out before but now its gone, I was able to make it from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd powershifting but when I hit 4th it just grinded, I tried a couple times and could not get it to work, now when I drive normal it wants to pop out of 4th and sometimes it wont let me into 5th at all

The car did feel faster though through those first few gears so I can see how it would be faster, some of the guys locally could not believe that I was not powershifting in the first place.

time for a tranny rebuild

You have a bend shift fork. Mine did the same thing.

i have powershifted before and i ahve learned my lesson not to do it atleast on a stock trans. the first time i did it i got stuck in 4th anf then the trans went down hill from there. i get faster times not powershifting then powershifting and yes i know how to and without powershifting i got 12.38 @ 112 with only a lid, catback, nitto so you dont have to power shift to go fast but you do need to know how to really throw gears FAST!

hmmmmmmm If you mean by keep the gas down while shift. No. Theres no real need unless its turbo and you need to keep the boost up between gears. Other than that I just shift really really really fast. which is what I thought power shift was. Shiftin super fast.

I made a mistake and did a 1-2 powershift at the track, good thing I was on bald KWD's and didnt have traction anyways. My clutch pedal is set up really high too, and it makes shifting faster a lot easier.

i tried it for the first time the nite i went 11.0's. yeah, picked up some et obviously but i also destroyed the trans finally that nite, prolly not a coincidence.

then again i had been putting a totally stock trans though total hell all season up to that point, it had stuck in 4th a little afew times recently before that nite, i think i just hurried up killing it by powershifting it that nite.

If you break your tranny powershifting it's because your hydraulics aren't right or you don't know how to do it correctly.

Some times the right hand is quicker than the left foot and you'll end up stuffing it in gear without the cluch pedal in.

You can bet all of the quickest stick cars on our site powershift.Taner,Futral etc

I never powershift. Its tough on the tranny. I believe 90% of all T56 fialures are shift related. You can minimize this with finding a good set of hydraulics that works well and setting it up correctly. You still have to shift within the confines of what the hyd/tranny will let you though. You should still be able to run within .2-.3 of your best possible ET by using the clutch. So for now...I use the clutch and just blip the throttle up. If I got very close to an ET I wanted...then I may consider powershifting.

I had been having problems for a bit now which started with street nitrous runs, at the track when spraying I could not get it into 3rd no matter what I tried but NA it would still go, I practiced powershifting cause I knew the tranny was on the way out and it finally gave out on me and is popping out of gears. Based on what you guys are saying I think Ill shift regular for now maybe try powershifting again a bit down the road.

I've been speed shifting for the last 15 or so passes, no trans issues yet worth about a tenth.
