Question How important are 60 foots ?!

Im trying to figure out how important 60' are in total with your 1/4 mile time

I have a good Trap speed of 106.04 but im only getting a 13.498 quarter mile with a 2.1 60'.. Now I was look at other peoples time slips from 60' to 330 - 1/8 mile and I found one that is so close to mine.. but then his end 1/4 is 13.090.. heres the differences.

HIS
MINE
60 foot 2.030
60 foot 2.172
330 foot 5.570
330 foot 5.881
1/8 mile 8.460 @ 85.470
1/8 mile 8.872 @ 83.35
1000 foot 10.960
1000 foot 11.382
1/4 mile 13.090 @ 106.130 MPH
1/4 mile 13.498 @ 106.004
so from what I get from the 2 is that from the 60' made all the difference from every marker. Im just trying to figure out why my Trap speed is decent but my 1/4 mile time is weaker in comparasion. Help me understand this! thx!

Ive always been told that every .1 loss in the 60ft means a .15 in the 1/4.

60' and 330' mark incremental times are how a chassis setup is measured. They are the most important incrementals on the track.

Looks like your both still spinning well after 60', you probably worse then him, thus the difference as well as overall combo, he may have a cam that pulls a lil harder up top or something, but bottom line, you get your 60' under control, suspension and tires, and you have a 12sec car.

60 ft is the key to running well at the drag strip. It is all about acceleration.

As mentioned above 60 and 330 foot times are very important to determining how well your car hooks and uses the power/torque it's making in the beginning of the run. I've seen a .2 drop in ET after dropping 60 foot times down by .1, but each car and situation is different. Basically if you have 2 exact runs (engine, trans and rear end temperature, DA outside temp and humidity, wind, etc) but one run you spin by .02 to the 60 foot (say 1.98 compared to 2.00), it will continue to add up in the run to around .04-.07 by the end of the run (13.47 to 13.51). It's the case of once you are at a slower et at one point in the run, it will continue to add up.
You can have a car that is set-up more for top end speed (or lower numerically geared), and thus the trap speed will be higher than the et and/or early incremental numbers will indicate.

I agree that working your 60 foot times down into the 2.0 or high 1.9's could net you a 12 second pass.

Good luck!

Derek

The 60' has been my #1 concentration. Best is a 1.823. I did all my suspension mods before power mods.
