Question Madman`s "drag race" alignment specs and aftermarket A-arms??

Anyone have trouble getting drag race front end alignment specs (like the ones Madman posted a while back) when using just lower aftermarket A-arms. I`m thinking of just installing some chrome moly rod end/adjustables but was wondering if I`ll be able to achieve those settings without the adjustability of an aftermarket upper A-arm? (Did any of that make sense? ) Just doesn`t seem worth the $$$ to do uppers from a weight saving stand point. But if I can`t get close to those specs w/o the uppers I`d consider it. I forgot to ask Mr. Billingsley while I had him on the phone the other day! Thanks for any help.

How much weight do you save with the lower a arms?

Well no problems yet, but I have not installed the A-arms or attempted an alignment. I just didn`t want to go through the trouble of installing the lowers only to find out I can`t achieve those "drag race" specs you gave. Because I`m literally going to my alignment shop with a printed copy of that post and saying, "Here, set it to these!!" I really just looking to save the money where I can and I figured if I could get away with just the lowers what the heck. But like I said, if I have to install the uppers to get the car set up correctly I wouldn`t hesitate.

By the way Madman, thanks for the reply and for posting those specs. I would have otherwise had no idea.

Drag racing specs... I wasn't aware of this. I got an alignment a while back...probably a year or so, maybe not even that when I did a tubular k-member, upper, and lower a-arms. I had them align it regular. There are specs to go by for drag use only? How does this affect drag use?

Yes you can align the car so it has less ressistance and not so much handling. Not sure on the specs, but they have been posted before....
