Drag only brakes on a daily driver.

Drag only brakes on a daily driver.
It can be done!
Well i was worried about them but they have been on for about a month now and they work great.
I got the Aerospace front drag only brakes. saved about 30 lbs. I got them used and my friend had them installed wrong so the pad wore slanted and i had to grind them semi even. I ordered a new set of pads just to be safe.
Now when i jack up my car the front wheel;s spin freely. before they wouldn't even spin half a revolution.

I would suspect that your rotors will warp much more quickly as they don't have a lot of mass to them and heat up faster. But hopefully they will work for you daily driving.
Good luck with em.

Billingsley Racing carries both Aerospace and Strange. In the Aerospace brakes you can get a lightweight race version or a lightweight street version. The major difference between the two is the rotor has vanes in it. The Strange brakes are race only. If you are going to drive around town for cruise nights and all a race brake will work. If you are going to do daily driving, the on off nature of stop and go traffic will take it's toll on your rotors.

I going to try the race kit. I drive the car alot on the street but there is really no stop and go traffic where I live (other than a few stop lights in town). I've had an air bubble stuck in my ABS block since last fall that I can't seem to get out so, my brakes havn't been that great anyway. ABS is going in the trash this week.

I have the Strange race brakes on my car and love them. When I first installed them I kept the stock power booster/master cyl and they were very touchy, too touchy as a matter of fact.
I then ordered the manual master cyl. from Jay and installed that. Made a world of differance, plus saved some more weight, the brakes feel awesome.
Note: When installing the manual master cyl. you will need to redrill the hole where the master cyl. rod hooks up to the pedal. If I remember right you have to drill it 1" above the original hole to give it a better angle of attack on the rod.

That's very true. I love the feeling of the manual brakes over the power assisted. They were a lot nicer than stock. I'm sure that my opinion would be completely different if I was into road racing though.

TJ, I ran the aerospace drag brakes on my green car for about 20k miles with no problems.
I didn't drive with the weld magnums on the street
