Default Drag only brakes on a daily driver.

It can be done!
Well i was worried about them but they have been on for about a month now and they work great.
I got the Aerospace front drag only brakes. saved about 30 lbs. I got them used and my friend had them installed wrong so the pad wore slanted and i had to grind them semi even. I ordered a new set of pads just to be safe.
Now when i jack up my car the front wheel;s spin freely. before they wouldn't even spin half a revolution.

I would suspect that your rotors will warp much more quickly as they don't have a lot of mass to them and heat up faster. But hopefully they will work for you daily driving.

Good luck with em.

Billingsley Racing carries both Aerospace and Strange. In the Aerospace brakes you can get a lightweight race version or a lightweight street version. The major difference between the two is the rotor has vanes in it. The Strange brakes are race only. If you are going to drive around town for cruise nights and all a race brake will work. If you are going to do daily driving, the on off nature of stop and go traffic will take it's toll on your rotors.

SUX2BU : Was this the race kit or the street that you bought? I'm kind of torn between the two of them.

I bought the race kit this winter from AreoSpace. Nice & light, wheels spin freely, but doesn't stop near as well as factory brakes. Before I could park at the first turn off out here if there was something like a mustang in the lane on that side, so I could wait for them to go by so I would not have to turn in front of them. Now the 2nd turn off takes some work. You can sure smell them on the return road. Normal street driving might be fine, but an emergency stop might not come out as well. I used the manual master cylinder kit from F.J. Smith Race Cars, in Canada. He makes really nice pieces for F body Stockers. Mopar cylinder, like I assume everybody else uses. I hear Bilingsly has a nice manual setup also. I failed to order the firewall brace Smith recomended, gonna have to get that. Watched the firewall move in & out when John (who works here) pumped the brakes. Yikes! I can sure see rotor warpage as a probem also. Many of my NHRA friends told me to order Mark Williams or Lamb. (They have more money than I) These were much cheaper, and I can't really see what the others could do that these don't. Guess if something comes apart I'll find out, right?

Good luck, Ed

I going to try the race kit. I drive the car alot on the street but there is really no stop and go traffic where I live (other than a few stop lights in town). I've had an air bubble stuck in my ABS block since last fall that I can't seem to get out so, my brakes havn't been that great anyway. ABS is going in the trash this week.

I have the Strange race brakes on my car and love them. When I first installed them I kept the stock power booster/master cyl and they were very touchy, too touchy as a matter of fact.
I then ordered the manual master cyl. from Jay and installed that. Made a world of differance, plus saved some more weight, the brakes feel awesome.

Note: When installing the manual master cyl. you will need to redrill the hole where the master cyl. rod hooks up to the pedal. If I remember right you have to drill it 1" above the original hole to give it a better angle of attack on the rod.

That's very true. I love the feeling of the manual brakes over the power assisted. They were a lot nicer than stock. I'm sure that my opinion would be completely different if I was into road racing though.

No, I meant the manual master not the brakes.

I didn't drive with the weld magnums on the street
