Default A4 Burnout ?

00 Formula
3.23/ stock converter/ bfg drag radials / no line lock

Is it best to keep the RPM's high during the burnout ? what Rpm ?

What gear 1st or 1st then shift to 2nd ?

What else besides rear brakes wear & tear are at risk without a line lock (broke booster last time) ?

When I'm running my M/T Sportsman tires, I pull to the front edge of the water, press down the brake (not too hard) and gas it about 1/2 way to snap the tires up into a spin quickly. I usually hold the rpms about 5500-5800, and when lifting off the brake, keep my foot in the gas to continue burning them up to the line. I've been told not to shift into 2nd during the burnout, and so far this technique has worked for me.

ditto ur just pretty much cleaning the tires no seed to melt the drag radials off. unlike the slicks where i like to sit in the box and get them nice and hot so they stick

just thought i would share

Villain281H:
Do you lift the brake while holding the rpms @ 5500- 5800 ? How long do you hold the burnout (stand on the brakes)?

hmm, and the tech's don't yell at you for attempting John Force Style Burnouts? Our local track severly frowns upon burnouts like that??

It's not a track if there's not huge smokey burnouts!

Every track around here, damn near everyone puts on a smoke show. Ok, maybe not everyone, but more people than should be.

Interesting. Our track techs get pissed off for doing John Force Style Burnouts.

a burnout like that is no where near the level of a john force burnout, stop using that term like its new or something.

I always lock my car in 2nd and do the burnout right out of the bottom of 2nd, I bring the rpms up into the 5K range for a few seconds and then roll out. If you go to the track on a regular basis you should really look into a line lock. Just play around and see what works for you.

Patrick,

I usually hold the brake for a 3-4 second count, then completely release the brake when burning to the line.

Buffman,

Nope, I do this style of burnout in both of my cars, and as long as you don't cross the staging beams or have to excessively brake to not cross the line, they don't say anything. Plus the Formula doesn't have enough power to make John Force-style burnouts.

The Nova on the other hand.....

Really surprised some track techs get pissed. What track are you talking about? I have never had them give a care as long as you do not cross the starting line. 5 sec. burnout or 10-15 sec. smoke show, it's your tires.
