High Wheeling
i know this wheelies are like 1 sec but still plenty time for thoughts on the brain..
wonder what guys like this or next are thinking while trying to take off?
its inspiration

I pulled them off the ground on the street the other day, What came to my mind was "Holy ****, God Damn!!!!!!!!!!!) I let off of it right away, granted I did not lift them that high, prob, about a couple of inches, but I let off of it because I was not expecting it. BUt will see this sat.

You DO NOT want to let out unless you absolutely have to. Shift in mid-air - oh what fun - and hope it comes down nicely - mine did NOT

i wonder.. if you can put something like a alu plate and some springs to protect everything down there.. maybe its some added weight, but for Show off purposes would be kinda good.. maybe even you can plase some sponsor stickers on that plate, so when you wheel up and some one takes a pic of the launch the sponsors will simle.
lol, i know at superchevy i almost went on the bumper, pictures from the back show about 1"-2" from hitting it, and it carried them for a while. i do not want to go on the bumper!!!! not the best picture, but that was on the way up lol

this is a good shot also

Actually MadMan has put out a SYA (save your ***) set of bars that bolt to the K-member. I went a different route - wheelie bars.
Nosyee. You are 100% right. The only thing I thought of (while in mid air) was to bring it back down easy - I had done it before - but not this high or this time

I'll also describe what can be termed as driving the car vs. point and shoot. When you drive the car you can hear, see and feel what's going on around you. When you point and shoot, you don't hear a thing, get tunnel vision and loose all sense of what is actually happening. Driving the car usually comes with experience and being calm (at least mentally). Taking a quick jump in ET can result in point and shoot. For that reason a lot of guys will make solo incremental passes (330, 1/8, 1000) while they learn the new feel. Just a very important note as point and shoot can be dangerous for you and the racer in the other lane.
First time I ever saw stars was at night on a very dim lit track. To me it was kind of surreal. I had told myself a thousand times if it ever happened shift, but never lift. That night I was in the left lane on a solo pass. As soon as I saw the sky go black I immediately turned the steering wheel to the right fearing I would be facing the guardrail. I had already immediately shifted and that came as a reaction. Once I was able to spot the track for the landing I straightened the wheel and then drove it out the back.
When I came around to the pits, my buddy who serves as my crew chief was surprised I didn't even have the shakes (btw, I love shakes). I ended up getting the shakes in the staging lanes right before the next pass knowing it was coming again. Fortunately it went as smooth as the first time.
The Atlanta race where all four tires came off the ground was a new one for me. After that pass, Ken (ESP) and I were talking as he was in the lane next to me. I laughed when I said, hey look I don't even have the shakes. His response was, yeah but that really freaked me out seeing that in the next lane.
One thing that will help is to know the car will go straight. With Madman tuning my suspension I now know that it will go straight even on the bumper.
I'm having a little technical difficulties with my web site at the moment, but I can link up some old video later if anyone cars.
I'll end my rambling now.

You want us to believe you pulled the front tires off the ground a foot or more on the street? I highly doubt it.
FTR..... I know of SEVERAL "street" cars that will tote the tires on the street.
Not a problem with the right "combo".
Btw.... I do NOT have the "right" combo

The car set the headers down at 210 ft out. It didn't do anything harmful to the car except dented in one primary on one header. It is not that bad and we just left it alone. If you do get into the air you better not let out. It will **** everything up under that car.
On that pass I had the controller set with no delay and to come on from 40-100% in 1.2 seconds. LOL It just kept on climbing and climbing. I shifted into second to try and bring the car down but it just kept on going. LOL The 60ft was a 1.31 with the rear tires cliking the 60ft marker (obviously). I heard the trunk dragging the ground and my first thought was I had better not let out of this. I rode it out and thankfully there was no problems. I rode the brakes for the rest of that pass after I came down and still went a 11.2 at 69mph. LOL
Don't do it. It is not a smart thing to do. I have since done many suspension changes on that car and it will bearly lift the tires off the ground with the same 60fts. But if it is for the show then do it to it. Every person at Thunder walked past the car when I came back into the pits. It was a really cool feeling but I don't really want to do it again. My personal car is chained down in the front like a mother f'er. It still comes up about 18in and rides to and somtimes past the 60ft. I really can't do anything about it except for wheelie bars which aren't allowed in the class that I set the car up for.

No, your right, I don't know why I wrote 12-18inches, I meant a couple of inches, must of been tired when i posted that, It's corrected now, my bad

Actually I was a victim of luck in that regard. I just happened to shift at the exact time it lifted the rears and I never even hit the rev limiter.
