Its an easy mod and for a car like yours with serious cred it would look good and take some weight off the front. I took all the front brakets off mine and made a small CRS support to hold the plastic piece the fascia bolts to up. I have a nice little pile of stock steel laying on the garage floor. Great mod. Looks like you do most of your racing at the track so no need for a sleeper, daily driver race cars are way cooler!

another thing is with a white car, the hood pins wont show up like they would with a black or red car.
hell, i could even paint the plates white, then put a coating on them so they wouldnt scratch

Dont paint the plates, nothing will keep them from getting scratched. If you dont like the chrome I know there are aluminum sets available. I would like to swap to stainless plates if I could find them.

If you look on my car domain there is one pic where you can see them on a white car (my car) on the second page.

They look great IMO

yeah you could powdercoat them. I was going to suggest that...i was going to say i could do it cheap for you but looks like you got it covered. I would leave them chrome and see how they look first though.

I just pinned my fiberglass SS hood. It's a bolt-on hood but I wanted to save the weight and ditched the hinges and latch. Mine was too "thick" as well so dzues fasteners were not an option. I used six 3/8" alum. pins with 2.5" stainless scuff plates. DOES NOT LOOK GOOD! But I don't think anyone will care @ 130mph! I know I won't!

I used the Sparco hood pins. They aren't as bad as the normal pins out there.

There are (or used to be) deck pins that have the
soda-machine style lock and don't use pins per se.
These are cleaner looking and, well, lock. You could
go one per corner and ditch all the hinges & stock
latch.

I had to pin the hood on my '68 El Camino because
the "street" fiberglass hood was still a floppy POS and
the corners were lifting so much just driving on the
highway that I thought it would maybe just pull the
latch out. I estimate this vehicle would turn high
teens and trap in the double digits but I have pins
anyway. I painted them, yes they scratched (and
rusted). Not the locking ones, the "Mr. Gasket" ones
from the locak speed shop.

You'll drop 5 pounds removing the old stuff and then add 6 dzus tabs and 6 metal brackets?

Personally I wouldn't mess up the look of the car to save 3 or 4 pounds in the end.
