If you're going to leave it as a bolt on hood, I'd definitely put at least two in the front, one on each side. It is cheap insurance from the hood flying up, especially on a car that sees alot of strip duty as yours does.

If you're going to remove the hinges and struts and make it more of a pin on hood, I'd do Dzus fasteners before I did hood pins, they look MUCH better.

my hood is finished top and bottom.
i was foing to leave the hinges and struts, just remove the hooks on the hood, and the latch, leaver, and cable.

Brad I would atleast do the front. I'm working with ASCD right now on a hood that is basicly a pin on with hinges at the back and one strut mount.

I'm sure if you eliminated the front latch you could easily remove some weight from the hood itself too.

Or get a new lightweight hood from VFN, and use pins on the front for it. How much does your hood weigh, 50 lbs?

The big reason I switched from my ASCD WS6 hood to the VFN WS6 hood I helped them make was to go from a 47 lb hood to a 25 lb hood. Still using hinges and latch.

That's what I did. I'm using two hood pins in the front for the street car, Dzus rails for the race car.

I dropped 10lbs, but that included hole sawing the hood frame.

I was a little weary to put mine in, after paying $500 for the hood and another $600 for the paint job. But I went ahead and did itanyway and I think it looks great,i just did the two in the front. No pics yet the car is in "the shop"!

Brad, I made the poll for you!

As for me, I would add dzus fasteners all around the hood and get rid of the hinges and locking mechanism to optimize the weight savings!

Brad, cant you see yourself getting to like another hood? VFN might work with you on making one like yours, either FG bolt on weighing ~20lbs (~30lbs lighter than your current) or CF which would be killer. Good luck.

Hood pins only if you get a super lightweight fiberglass hood and you are going to lift it off to work on car. Keep the sleeper look and NO HOOD PINS. just my .02

thanks mike.
my issue is the dzus wont rit my hood, its to thick (i think)
also, i like the hood, and opening it, dont think i want to remove it everytime, thats easy acces for damaging the paint ect.
i will see what vfn says, but i know they take for ever!
plus the hood now is to nice, the under side is so sweet, and the finish is mint. i think id rather just save the 5 pounds loosing the latches ect, and keep it nice.
but keep the info coming. and maybe some one can fill me in if dzus will work? i could put them up front, and maybe 2 on the sides, and leave the hinges.
