My car is 25-2 with a stock floor.. so its "legal" to go as fast as a pro car so im not sure why that would be true.

Regardless if I was doing what was done to this car in question.. i would want it PC'd also.. it looks great and I feel will hold up over time much better then paint!

Thats good to know! I talked to a buddy of mine tonight who just got his done. What they did is had the car inspected and then it was PC'd... then they met up with the inspector again and he put the sticker on the car after it was coated.

My understanding that was a rule for the Top Fuel and Alcohol guys. If you notice none of there chassis are coated. Just wiped with Lubricant to keep them from rusting. Since those cars flex so much they need to inspect the welds frequently and the coating (paint, chrome or powder) covered the welds. If you notice all Pro Stock and Pro Mods are painted or Powder Coated.

Powder-Coating is legal. Our chassis builder just sent a 25.2 chassis and a 25.1 chassis out to be Powdercoated and was told by the NHRA tech-inspector that it is 100% legal. Chroming is not legal.

I've seen a coating other than lubricant used that is wiped on to a chassis of that level. I don't remember if it was automotive or race car specific and I forget what it is called but it was accepted by officials.

Everytime I have seen it used it gives the tubing a semi transparent blackish color.

It's probably gun bluing that they use to get that semi transparent black and blue color like that. As far as powdercoating, it looks great and holds up well. But as the W2W guys could attest to with Casper, when you want to weld new stuff to the chassis later it may be difficult to color match. Some guys paint the cage in acrylic enamel. It's reasonably durable although PC is more durable and impact resistant. It's all personal taste after that as far as color and application.

Looks great, but how come powdercoating was chosen over paint? With paint you can see any cracks whereas powdercoat hides them...
