Motor is toast, need ideas on what to build?
Well the entire car is race ready except the motor. It was the only portion of the car that I had left to build. I went 10.34@127.46 (1.36) last night, wheeling all night with a cam only naturally aspirated motor. One of the passes I almost put it on the bumper and I believe that is what cause my motor to go. Anyhow, it looks as I'm out of the cam only game and there's no point in building up a stock LS1 engine with a cam and going for a record. There are so many options out there, some in which I'm probably unaware of, so I'm in desperate need of some ideas. At this point, I have no idea how radical I wanna go. If I had the choice, I'd go all out. I'm sure with good weather and a nice heads/cam package, I could go 9s, but I wanna build something strong. Let me know what you think, thanks!

Build the biggest engine you can afford and put some nice cylinder heads on top of it.
If you can afford to re-sleeve an Aluminum block than I would do a 434 with some ETP 265 CC 11* heads on it and see how close to the 8's you can get with the stock PCM.
If you can't afford to re-sleeve an Aluminum block than I would do a 408 with some ETP 255 CC 11* heads.

At this point, I'm unsure. The more I think about it, I'd hate to spend the money on building up a stock engine or even a stock bore/stroke engine with upgraded internals. So if you wanna give me some ideas from mild to wild, that would be great. Thanks.

You can do an Aluminum 418 w/o re-sleeving using the ls2 block. And a 433 aluminum will be available w/o a re-sleeve with the release of the 6.2L blocks. Talk to Shirl Dickey at SD racing enterprises, that is who I'm going to go through for my motor. He has built quite a few .030" over ls2 blocks on road race motors with no problems at all.
Plus you can build the 433 and 418 for about 2 grand less than a re-sleeved 427.
