Default Swiss cheesing Kirkeys?

I just ordered acouple of Kirkey Pro Street seats and I plan to shave alittle more weight out of them. I'll probrably start by cutting them down to about 33-34" and the I'm going to swiss cheese atleast the bottoms. How much can I take out and still be relativly safe. Obviously not going to do it around the mounting points but I was thinking about 1" holes that where 1" apart. What did you guys do?

Not an option. This car will weigh in at a low to mid 2,700lbs for next season, with an interior. Every little bit is going to count.

LC1, by the looks of there shop drawings they take out alot. Those seats are only .081 thick too. The holes look like they are stamped out though, not sure if that helps in the strength department.

You can get 5 lbs out of them with a hole saw. I used a 1 1/4 hole saw. I will try to get some pics of mine and post them monday.

Started drilling today. Down to 11.4lbs and the seat is still plenty strong. I still have alot of drilling to do on the back, hopefully it'll be about 9.5lbs when done. My seat brackets mount to the sides of the seat and it will also be attached to the cross bar. Should hold up.

Depends on what seat, but the Pro-street drag seat weighs 12 lbs.

Just buy a carbon-fiber seat. Little expensive, but baller.

Doing it to both. The passanger seat will have alittle more drilled out of it since I'm not so concerned about safety on that side.
