Oh sweet dude, thanks!

Hey Tony, I wish I lived in Texas so I could have madman do my chassis work, but i'm in South Florida, do you happen too know any chassis shops around here that could do a good job installing the wolfe 10-point and do it at a decent price? I know of one good place, but he likes too make his own cages, and if he doesn't do his own, his prices too install are kind of pricey.

Devon,

Try Chassis Engineering. They build all that race car stuff and did installs last I knew. Bunch of good guys too, I worked for them a while back.

Tony,

The car looks damn good! Did it come with the T/A hatch or did you swap that on?

Dude, I called Chassis Engineering and asked them how much too do a 10-point in a 4th gen and they told me $3000, screw that! Also, by the time I get done with shipping and all on the wolfe, I don't know if it would be worth it too buy it and have someone put it in. Guess i'll probably just go with the local guy that builds 'em, not a bad price, just so hard too get all the money together at once, always wanna get something too go faster when I have money, hehe!

wow, surprising! The guy who did my bar does awesome work and doesn't charge an arm and a leg. He bent mine just the way I wanted it so my rear speaker deck could still use the factory 6 x 9 locations, the door armrest doesn't get messed up, and I still have plenty of trunk space.

If you want I'll check into his costs on a 10-point chrome-moly. Only bummer for you is a drive north to Ocala!

Yeah, find out for me dude, I could trailer her up there one weekend if the price is right and he does good work, 10-point chromemoly 1-5/8 tubing and i'll have the dash pulled before it gets there, just need him too put it back in too fit the cage. He paints it too, right? Oh yeah, and almost forgot, gotta cut out the 6-point that's in there, the guy that did it did a really shitty job, so it's comin out!

$3000.00 is a fair price for a 10pt. Of course it should come with a chassis sticker, seat belt tabs and window net mounts.

Yeah, then it wouldn't be too bad of a deal, but that was for just the cage! And with me pullin the dash and reinstalling, so screw that! There's a guy around here that does a lot of 4th gen cages that i'll probably go with, he told me $1600 to cut out the old cage, put in the new one and paint it. Then he said that I have too figure I might need a new windshield cuz they almost always break when they get pulled out, and figure I may need a new plastic top piece cuz if it doesn't break when I pull it off, it'll probably break when he cuts it too fit the cage cuz he said when they get old they get brittle, so it could be a little over $2000, oh and that includes the window net and mount. And that's with me pulling the dash and him reinstalling it. I figure that's the best deal i'm gonna find, like I said though, it's so hard too save the money, cuz everytime I start puttin money together, it's so tempting too spend it on more go fast stuff!!!! But i'm gonna start just givin the money too my fiancee every week too hide from me till I have the $2000 together too get the cage done, now that the holidays are over, I should get the money together pretty quickly! What's it usually run too get the chassis cert?

Yup, that was the price he gave me for a 10-point chromemoly 1-5/8 tubing, he makes the cage himself, does really good work from what i've seen from buddies cars. That's why I figured that's the best deal i'm gonna find after talkin too chassis engineering and them tellin me $3000!

Devon,

I'll check into it, but I know I stripped the interior to save the funds, mine was done in bare steel and I painted it once I got it home. It cost me $375 and that's for a 5-point mild steel with a swing-out door bar, but that was 2-1/2 years ago.

Yeah, i'd like too have mine painted, cuz I know it'll look like **** if I try and do it myself! Same thing goes for the dash being cut, if I try and do it, I know it won't come out lookin clean!

Get yourself some small cans of POR-15 epoxy-based paint. You can buy it at Eastwood. You can paint the cage yourself with a brush, that stuff goes on thick and it dries nice and glossy without any brush marks. It also holds up much better than regular spray paint. Two tiny cans should be enough to paint an entire 10-pt. I painted the 6-pt in my '69 with a little over half a can.
