Thumbs up Post YOUR Suspension Setup & 60' Time!

Well, I've got a Moser 9" rear on the way with a 4.10 gear, 35 spline with Detroit Locker. Time to order suspension!

My 98 SS is all stock underneathe. Where should I go?

The car will need to run well at the track, simply put, and I want to stick with UMI's products. I do have their weld-in subframe connectors already. I have true duals as well, and I know this affects some suspension systems.

My question is this: what is YOUR suspension setup, how are you leaving, and what kind of 60' times do you run?

Thanks in advance.

Our suspension is all BMR, all adjustable ... she leaves nice and straight ... best 60' has been a 1.42 on the motor only.

1.35 (still spinning a bit)

Front:
QA1 R shocks
!front swaybar
QA1 front springs

Rear:
Spohn rear drag bar
Stock 99 V8 springs, cut down to lower my car (I am on 28W)
QA1 rear shocks

I have the rear shocks at 4/4 a little soft, and then tighten them up if the track is hooking great. I've never been able to put rear shocks at more than 6/6.

I run the rear shocks at 2/2 loose to start, I have had them at 0/0, and 1/1 many times.

Front: QA1 converted-to-R shocks, normally set at 8 to 10 clicks.
No anti-roll bar.

Rear: QA1 shocks set on 10 clicks, stock springs, LCAs, torque arm and panard bar. PeteZ Bars (kinda), no anti-roll bar, no air bag. If I set my rear shocks like John's, it wheel hops.

4.30 gears & 30" X 9" Hoosier radials on 10" wheels, 22 to 25 psi.
1.31 60', if it comes back down in time. Foot braked @ 2000 rpm, motor only.

Have all the BMR stuff; K-member, sub frame, LCA, PHR, TQ arm, Drag Bar

Front; HAL’s Double Adjustable set at 6/20 in the front with HAL’s 300lbs front springs

Rear; HAL’s F shocks set between 4 to 6 with Stock WS6 convertible springs with 1 ½ coils cut off (I think these springs are to stiff).

Tire; MT Drag 28x15S on Bogarts 15x9 3/4 rim

Running at a poor hooking track launching off a Two Step @ 6500
I am able to cut consistent mid 1.5
Car is still spinning out of the hole.
I think that the car should go mid to low 1.4 with the right set-up and a good track

Next time I go to the track, I will be trying some softer springs to see if that help me hook sooner.
I will try a set of stock rear springs from a 99 TA and then a set of stock V6 springs from a 93 V6 Camaro.
Not sure what will give me the best Sixty.

6 cylinder rear springs did nothing for mine. It will be intersting to see if they help yours. I know some NHRA Stock Eliminator racers with LT1 and LS1 F bodys, they all run stock rear springs. I ran Superstock with a '65 Chevelle convertible back in the mid 70s, and it liked 6 cyl 2dr sedan rear springs. This car I have now doesn't seem to care either way. Darren (Gizmo), who posts here, runs NHRA & IHRA with LT1 Firebirds and might know more about it.

The springs I have I found at a local F body/truck salvage. They were tagged as coming from a '99 V6 Camaro, and the wire they were wound from measures .015" smaller diameter than the springs that came in my car.

I believe the 95 or 97 and old V6 springs are a different spring rate. I forget exactly. I ran 95 Rear springs on my car once, it squatted too much.

I agree with ED
I bought a set of 99 TA springs from na LS1tech member and personal pulled a set of 1993 V6 spring at a local junkyard. The V6 measured .015 thin wire, one extra coil and 1 inch taller static height.
