Default Mounting a Kirkey seat??

Is there any other way to mount a Kirkey seat? The only bracket I found on their site was about $80 and it said it was only for full-cage cars only! I don't have a cage or anything but I do plan to leave this seat in permanently...so any ideas?? Thanks...

they are flimsy and need a back support. they have to be mounted to a rollbar or cage for back support

I went over to the warehouse and poped the Kirkeys in today. The seats fit awesome with the bracket, they have plenty of adjustment front to back, plus heigth wise and layback. They are alittle lower in the car so it's tougher for me to bail out over the door bar. I have to finish adjusting them in the spring. I wish I had of brought my camera.

Here's the only pic I have of it finished. I lightened the bracket up a good amount too. I'm going to look into having something similar to this produced out of aluminium for market. It will have more adjustment and be about half the weight.

Guys, I basicly modified a Corbeau bracket and Kirkey L-brackets. This was a quick mock up pic.

Cobeau sells a slider bracket for close to $80. You just have to strip it down to the frame. You will have to drill both the bracket and Kirkey.

GM Muscle, well done! I've been meaning to ask someone who has your style Kirkey seat (41000 series Pro Street Drag Seat)...have you had a chance to sit in the flat bottom Kirkey drag seat (16000 series Economy Drag Seat)? I'm wondering if the 41000 series seats are noticeably more comfortable than the flat bottom ones. I hate mine. My *** always falls asleep. It seems like the 41000 series should be a little softer on the ***. For one they have a bowl shaped bottom and you won't feel like you are sliding forwards. For another they have the leg indentations.

I havn't sat in both but I can tell you that the Kirkeys are more comfortable then my Corbeaus where. The Corbeaus where positioned with the seat bottom flat, and before I modified them I always felt like I was falling out of the front of the seat. The only real pros I saw to the economy seats is that they are 34" tall so they will fit in these cars better, and they have a killer price.

Is that Corbeau bracket the non-adjustable one? Did you weld the kirkey bracket to it or just bolt it together? Any other modifications required?

I like that bracket combo Andrew. I'm gonna do something similar with my Mustang since I have two Kirkey seats laying around. Thanks for the idea.

It was a slider bracket. I'm not sure if Corbeau makes non sliders. They are bolted togethor. The Corbeau is drilled so I can adjust the seat forward and backward in 1/2" increments. Beware that the Corbeau bracket is heavy. It took me alot of work to get the whole thing to the 5lbs mark. Also note that this set up will probrably not be safe with an 18"+ seat, 16" is perfect, 17" is acceptable.

Here's another mock up pic I found. I had to grind down the weld on teh bottom edge of the seat to eliminate the gap between the L bracket and the seat. http://nitrousfedmuscle.com/images/kirkeybracket2.jpg

Does the Kirkey seat (economy one more specifically) sit much lower than a stock camaro seat? If so is there a good way to mount it a little higher? I just like the height of the stock seats.

I just threw in a 17.5" wide Kirkey economy drag seat in today. I'm 6' 3" and 230lbs and with the stock seats or the Forza my helmet would just touch the T-top glass and I didnt like that. I wanted the lowest/thinest bottom seat and this was it. Cool thing is it bolted right to the steel corbeau bracket in the right spot for me and it worked out great. I took the sliders off and just used the corbeau frame, 3 bolts across the front and 3 across the rear. I'll put a back brace on it of course but its plenty stout without one, the pro street see is a lot more sturdy.

Lost 9lbs from the Forza seat and sliders also which is easy to take..
