According to my 2006 NHRA rulebook chute isnt needed to 150mph, havent seen anything on NHRA's website about rule revisions concerning a chute. Some tracks may want one on 135+ cars..

I just spoke to the NHRA Technical Director. Parachutes are required at 150 MPH AND FASTER only! There is no ET (9.99 or quicker) requirement. It is listed in the quick reference chart under 7.50-9.90 because around low 9s most cars will be capable of running 150 MPH trap speeds. Hope this clears up the confusion.
