Also with a Turbo car the fall off from 1st to 2nd isnt that bad.
Im running 3.73's and 28"s also.....
Plus it is lighter and on the $$ note it is cheaper to build then a th400 to hold the same hp and IF id ever breaks its cheaper to fix.
Give Rossler a call and talk to Carl and see what he has to say about your whole setup and your goals.

Who's Converter you looking at??

Kyle
That's the main reason I was thinking power glide. It's lighter, less power loss, cheaper, and it should easily take me into the 8s when I'm ready. I havn't decided on any converter yet. I'm thinking that the 1.80 first with the right rear gear/tire combo and a high str converter will get the car out of the hole good on a 250 shot. I'm still undecided. I though David was running 10.1 with bolt ons, 200 shot, and a PG in his blue SS, I maybe wrong though. I believe that NEXT had some pretty good results with his PG 346 nitrous combo too.

how much cheaper is a glide to build than a t400? I got a quote from a sponser a while back for a built t400 for 1000hp and the price was pretty high.

i'm thinking of going to a glide but didnt want to slow down. im sure it would on the motor with my 3.50 gear and 28" tires. i believe it will run faster on the spray tho. i'm running a turbo350 now.theirs a guy at the track i run at that was going 7.0's and went 6.8's with the glide and break. this is a 355 in a montecarlo ss probably 3200lbs. and nitrous.8th mile e.t.s of course.

You need to consider the BIG difference in the glide first gear too

I had Rossler build my Glide for 1000rwhp and it was Under $3K....
The same for a TH400 was around $5K.....

Rossler makes some great stuff.

Gear sets make a big difference in the total price. All depends on what you're looking for. My first glide setup for this car was with a 1.76 gear and that will make a glide very inexpensive.

I hear ya.. I just know what eastside was running for a rear gear, and the power level they were at... although that was with a th400 (which I actually have now) Assuming you were at about the same power level they were when you did that monster bumper drag last year, it just seemed like a steep *** rear gear, esp with only a 28 inch rear tire... not sure how you were getting the top end out of it you were. I forgot about the 1.8 1st vs.2.48 though... kinda makes up for most of that I'd guess.

Yeah i opted for the 1.80 first and the SFI bellhousing and a few other goodies....
Ive heard of nothing but good things about Rossler.... thats why i went with them.

Call Eastside, they deal with Hughes, I know that a TH400 with a rmvb and a transbrake is nowhere near 5500 bucks.. hell, less then 3000. I am pretty sure they rate it at 1200 hp. Don't quote me on that, but I think that's what it's good for.

I have been beating myself up over what to do with my TA. I have owned a car with a glide before and hated it. My Basically Stock 67 Camaro had a glide and I swapped it over to a th400 for the exact opposite reasons I want one now. I wanted to enjoy the car on the street more. Now my TA will hardly ever see the street at least not more than 55 mph.

Well with my TA all i want to do is get it down the track alot faster. I think I am about 98% shure I will go glide since no one on the planet can build a 4l60e to last. Also I am majorly against the th400 due to the powertrain loss. With a glide its less than 5-6% loss, a th400 is huge, like 22-25% loss.

I think my combo...just under 600rwhp with a 12 bolt 3.73 gears and lightend up can fly with a glide behind it.

Unless your going to add a BIG shot of dope on top off that 600 rwhp i would go th350.

Ordered a Rossler glide for the race car today. $4400 with EZ stage ($800 option). It also requires an external pump (not included).
