Roll bar bend quality question

Thanks Harlan, bending/welding tubing was never my thing but I have seen a lot of cars with some flattening of the bends on thight bends and really never thought much about it since they were certified. Makes sense about the mandrel bend changing the wall thickness too.

Bickle has a pretty nice shop, been to a few of his Christmas parties over the years and they are always a blast. Anything he did on our cars was always first class and as you mentioned he built cars for people like Warren Johnson and others so they may know what they are doing there

funny the difference in the answers given by the people who have bent tubing before and those who havent.

Everyone we have been in contact with the manufactor . They have said that this is typical for 1 3/4 chromoly tubing. The manufactor has assured us it’s safe to use and would pass inspection. They even said if we were unsatisfied that they would make us a new main hoop.

We even carried the roll bar to a local chassis builder. He even said that there’s nothing to worry about and would be safe. He also said that this was typical for the 1 3/4 tubing as well. He did say that some of the flatting could have been caused from the type of bender that was used or that the tubing wasn’t lubricated during the bending.
