Default SubFrames or Not?

I am *** backwards.. I never did my sub frames.. I have done the whole rear suspension with a 12 bolt.. chromoly adjustable lca's, pan hard, torque arm and have Qa1's.. My car also has a chromoly 6 point cage.. Is it smart for me to still think about sub frames? or would it be dead weight with the cage already in the car stiffening it up..

Let me know your opinions..

Thanks y2k_ta

I read through that and i found the info i wanted to hear then it became the typical internet opinionated post where they talked about there cars instead of the original posters needs and setup..

I think with my mods its a waste and would be extra weight.. Someone tryed to tell me otherwise, so i figured i would run it by here..

in my opinion the 6-point negates the need for subframes

i agree with camaroextra, i just put a 6 point in my car and it wont sit on all four jack stands anymore(i should have put connecters or a cage in befor now, body is a little twisted judging by the door gap). but my point is that the cage makes it stiff as hell.

probally depends on what kind of power you are putting down also. im cam only so, i am gonna save the weight.

With your setup, I'd run the subframe connectors. You will still have twist with just the 6pt, and even 6pt with connectors, but the amount of twist will be that much less then before. Where we are in the game, any flex is bad flex...... Unless you have a Mopar.

I'm planning a 6-point in the near future (probably fall or winter '06), but my car is an 'often-driver' so I wanted swing-outs. After looking at the different swing-out designs I just wasn't convinced (educated eye, engineering degree) that they maintained the same sort of chassis rigidity that a solid bar would. I've already ordered some UMI 3-pts to weld in and augment the cage, but I also have a chassis-mount TA.

I guess it all depends on the individual situation

Why not run them...they are cheap, and a little more insurance!!! Can never have too much of that!

They are looking at the weight aspect more then likely. Just run a chromoly set to keep the weight down though.

Hey Tanker.... Since ALL UC2 said his sits off while on stands, I believe you're good. Your car sat pretty on stands when I was doing your exhaust.

You know my educated opinion. If you want more, give Chris Alston a call, he'll hook you up to HOOK!! oh and break out the $$$$ LOL

No ****.. I can't believe these guys are seriously saying that there is no point/reason to install subframe connectors just because you have a 6pt roll bar. They cost $150 bucks and don't weigh jack ****. And only take an hour to install tops besides the fact that they help stiffen the body and work even better with the 6pt.. Seems like a no brainer to me..
