Default lightweight batteries

looking at the hawker Odyssey lightweight battery. i believe it's the PC680 model. What one do i need to get? I see they come in different models, one with black casing and one with orange casing. Does it come with the correct terminals to use the stock battery posts or will i need to buy a new set of battery posts to make this work? Thanks for any help or suggestions

I have a Hawker Odyssey PC680 and am very happy with it. The battery cables do not directly mate to the Odyssey’s terminals but you can connect the cables to the battery with a couple of short straps made from brass. You also need two stainless steel nuts that match the battery cable threads. I mounted my Odyssey on its side with the brass straps sticking up so that the cables remain in their original position. I modified the original tie-down block by cutting away a bit to leave a flat face that presses against the top of the Odyssey and wedges it in place. The stock ACDelco battery weighs more than 30 pounds and the Odyssey weighs less than 15.

I run the PC 680 with my stock wires, and the mini allen bolts it came with. I just rigged up a homemade mount with 2 large hose clamps connected to eachother.

yep, I am using the stock cables, slipped the sleeves & bolt off, put the supplied allen bolt thru stock cable eye and into battery. Although for ease of removal and accessory adding I do want to get the terminal adapters. Great battery. Had mine about a year, full stock electronics no issues. And for a hold down, I laid mine down, terminals facing rearward, and bent up some 1.25" wide aluminum, NHRA legal, drilled a hole for the stock bolt hole and bent up on the rad support with another bolt.

I have the PC680MJ. The difference between the regular PC680 and the 680MJ is that the MJ has a metal cover to help keep the heat out. Heat drains batteries. Try ebay. I believe they have the cheapest price. Great battery if your a die hard racer and wants to get as much weight out of the car as possible. BUT just in case carry jumper cables in your car. As the reserve is only like 25 mins so if you leave the radio on or whatever chances are you'll have a dead battery. -Mark

they are actually higher on ebay, granted some include shipping.

I just got and installed my battery. Since I didnt really find anything that shows how a mount was made, I'll post some pics on what mine looks like so someone else can follow it if they want. It was pretty easy and cost me a total of $6-$7 to make using the stock bolts

I got a piece of 1.5" wide aluminum strip found near the welding/sheetmetal area of Home Depot. I measured out how I'd need to bend the bar and I marked where the mounting holes would have to be. I cut the strip to the total length I calculated out and I bent at my measure points on a vice. I drilled the holes and that was it. For connecting the battery wires I used the stock allen bolts that came with the battery and put a washer behind it so it wouldnt pull through when i tightened down. for the ground wire i bent the eyelet to the right angle to meet up with the battery.
I bought the battery from REMY battery on Ebay. PM me if you have any questions.

Anyone running one of these on a higher compression motor? I ran one for a little while on my 422 but it was always going dead and seemed to struggle turning it over. I may have had a bad one though.

I just ordered one to put in my car... I plan to keep it on a battery tender all teh time just to be safe... but it's gonna be cranking a 400+ inch 11.8 to 1 motor. I dont' think it will have a problem unless I do somethign stupid like leave the radio or headlights on though. I do however plan to keep a set of jumper cables in my car for the first little while though, just to be safe.

I put mine on the scale this morning, it was 38 lbs. Still, even at 36 lbs you're still losing 22 lbs... off the nose of the car. No bad points there.

That bracket is pretty nice. I have to go to home depot and get a piece of alum stock and try to bend it up. I'm gonn lay the batter on it's side, I think it will be more secure that way.

Anyone run one with a bigger cube engine say 11.5-12.2 compression? I ran the Hawker in our car and drove it daily with no issues what so ever, but once I started tuning myself, I got a little nervous. Now we have a 408 and we're always tweaking something. I was wondering if anyone has put these little batteries to this kind of test.

We're still pig heavy and I'm not giving up the hood for a light weight piece because of the graphics so I gotta look else where.

20#s off the nose is significant IMO.
