Default Anyone running a Jerico or a carb?

Question #1

I did some searches and didn't find anything. Curious if anyone has installed a Jerico DR4 in a 4th Gen.? I'm pretty sure I know what needs to be done but would like to know if anyone else has attempted this with a LS1 style block? The problem is this linkage usually mounts off the block and on the LS motors there is no where to mount the bracket.

Question #2

I know there are some hybrids and some 4th gens that have converted over, but I'd like to know if anyone making good power has converted over. I should be in the 700-750 FWHP range N/A and I'm going to switch to a carb. Anyone making big power with a carb? I'm wondering what this $300 ported GM single plane intake is going to do when I try and flow fuel threw it? Granted all my port work was done by Larry Meaux so I'm hoping it will keep up with the motor, guess I'll find out in the spring.

FYI - Next year when you see a red SS running well into the 9's N/A running in the bracket class you'll know why No more EFI **** for me That is if there are any events next year?

Mccleod makes a bellhousing that will allow it imputs are avalible in pretty much any spline 1inch 5/32 26 being most popular you can use a TH400 speedo reluctor because they are th400 size output.. Jerico is the most popular trans out there but not really the best Their based on a ford top loader and they suck *** to work on....I can change ratios in a G 101 in 15 minutes or less Jerico takes 30+ just to give you an idea...

Judson has been running what they've referred to as a 'roadrace' Jerico.

The drag race versions have things done to the sliders and face plates to allow clutchless shifting as well as wider gears because of shock .... same thing with the G Force stuff you can run a road race unit as long as your not 1000 rwhp

1. I'm not convinced it is any faster.

2. It is expensive. After selling everything I have a wad of money left over.

3. The car will see very little street time, especially now that I live further away from the city. I'll still go to cruises and stuff every now and then but it will be limited.

4. Less wasted time on the dyno wearing my parts out.

5. I know I can get it dialed in by myself with a carb. I used to build alcohol carbs years ago

6. Nobody seems to be trying it. If I start laying down some decent times I bet that changes.

7. There is no GM efi series that is worth building a car for or a class that my car fits in well even when there is an event.

Those are some of the reasons. I know there are people that can tune here but trying to coordinate schedules and the other things I listed is a pain in the ***. If I'm not happy with it I'll convert back over, but I don't see that happening.

What type of 4 speed are you going with Doc?

Do a parts list so when the time comes I can use your swap info...

I just bought a Jerico a week ago. I have several friends that have had great luck with them and it was all I could afford. Clutch set-up and bell housing should be here next week. I'll know more in a few weeks.

Man oh man I was just waiting for this post....as you know, I'm in. My concerns are the same...clutch linkage?????? Doc you going with an inline shifter or H pattern to retain the stock console? I'd love the inline but would hate to cut the hell out of the SS floor and console. I also have a few friends with Jericos one has the dr4 and one the road race version. Only difference they can tell is its much harder to downshift for compression braking with the dr....not impossible just harder. Keep us posted and goodluck.

One thing about Jerico's is the location of the reverse parts..right in between 1st and second on the mainshaft... remember reverse in race cars is only there because rules say it has to be...its very very easy to pop some teeth off the reverse gears and being thats not contained in the tailshaft housing like every single other racing transmission you'll have big problems in a hurry... just some experences I'd thought I would share
