lightweight carpet
You can buy a universal light weight carpet called Ozite. I bought some and it's nice stuff, very light also. I haven't installed mine yet but with alittle 3M contact glue and an iron it should conform very nice. If you do a search in this section you can find some links to it. I think I paid $14 a linear yard (80"0 wide).

I weight the stock carpet with all the backing and included the rubber matting that sits against the firewall and that weighed in at 54lbs.

It could be off, I dunno but I do have two scales and measured across both and got the same result.
80" wide.
4 yards of 80" wide to cover the floor of an F-Body you say? Hmmm I think I'll be calling them shortly.
I take out the carpet during the fall and spring when I race the most, I hate the way the car looks w/o it. I took off the padding from the carpet long ago, but in an atempt to make the car quieter inside I put Dynamat in its place. The car is nice and quiet but now my carpet weighs a ton! LOL
Since Ozite needs to be glued down, would I be able to put my stock carpet with the Dynamat over the Ozite in the summer?
The amazing part other than it getting here in 2 days is the entire role and plastic it was shipped in is less than 13lbs. This stuff rocks. By the way it's going in my Chevelle.
