Default Going To The Track For The First Time.....

ok i ahve some questions.. i have a 2002 Trans Am see sig for mods. and i am running street tires on my stock 10 bolt

here are some questions:

what PSI should i set my rear and front tires at?

I ahve a little bit of a slipping problem from the clutch. so what RPM should i feather the clutch out of the hole at?

What do you think i will trap? And what speed? i think 13.4 @ 106 with a 2.3 60'

What else should i know or expect?

this will by my first car i ever own to get in to the 13's god damn 97 Mustang GT i had every thing on that car known to man N/A of course and still could not brake 14. My best time was a 14.01 @ 96.28 with a 1.87 60' yes it was a 5 speed too...

wush me luck and give me some input..

A lot has to do with weather or not you can hook any. Street tires suck at the track. You're probably not going to notice too much of a difference with different tire pressures, but I ran mine between 20-22 the few times that I ran on street tires. You're going to have to find a happy medium with your tires on what rpm you can launch at.
I can tell you that you won't run a 13.4 @ 106 with a 2.3 60'; Now, you might run a 13.4 you might run 106 mph and you might run 2.3 60'...you just won't run them all at the same time. I'm auto, so a little different but I went 13.5 @103 on a 2.0 60' when i was stock on street tires. Good luck, have fun. Let us know what you ran.

jonas, my friends 2000 SS ran a best of 13.8 at 105 with a 2.1 60'. he has LTs, ORY, a loudmouth, 12 bolt w/3.73s, MT drag radials and lots of other small things. o yea its a brand new crate LS1 as well. we went last night to GLD and he pulled 1 or 2 of those runs, all the rest were 14.0s at 104 or so. like i said tho, he was was running mickey thompsons and still couldnt do a sub 2.0. what track are you gonna be going to?

his is 6 speed. also, a local cop met with us there with his procharged LS1 WS6. it puts down about 490 at the wheels, with a 6 speed, Nittos, 12 bolt with 4.10s and all supporting mods he ran a 12.3 at 116. im not sure if its the track but i dont know anyone with a 4th gen who can hook well there. at least i havent seent it yet on Drag radials.

would not have ran a 12.7 with a 2.0 60 ft...more like 13.00's or maybe 12.9's...not bad mph though...congrats
