uhh huh huh... he said "nice rack" uh huh huh, Beavis.

I'll have mine on the car in a few days. If I had a motor in said car, I could drive around and tell you my impressions.
Stayed tuned in a month or so from now.

Physically?

Meaning you'd have to buy it and open the box to see the disclaimer?

so youre saying you didnt know it was mainly for all out race cars? sure you can drive with it on the street, but you can also drive your 1000hp car on slicks and skinnies in a hurricane if you wanted to. basically the same principle here. are you going to complain to Hoosier and Mickey Thompson next about how their slicks suck when driving in the rain??

doesnt the idea behind it kinda give you a clue....?

Brian,

Not that you would be, but don't be by those who don't "get it".

Yeah, I said above that I will relay my impressions, but ****, I bought your rack for my TRACK car. If somebody is looking at that, thinking they're going to put it on a daily driver and make no sacrifices, they are clearly looking at that mod from the wrong perspective.

The car I'm installing it on comes out of the garage once every couple weeks to go to a car show or "street meet". Other than that, all it does is go to the track.

With so many manual racks running around, you'd just think someone would've posted that you can't run stock wheels and DRIVE the car around like stock that's all.

What's so difficult to understand about that?

Ah well.

You CAN drive the car around like it is stock. I have been driving on mine for TWO years now. The only time you would ever run into a problem with this rack is on a road course and no one in their correct mind would put this rack on a car intended for road courses.

Trust me, I have one, I drive my car on the street and I do not have a problem.

who the hell buys a manual rack for a street car? honestly? do u think 19 lbs is going to make ur car get to that next stop light before it turns red? have u never driven a car w/o power steering before? especially with a fat tire up front like our cars have? i dont care how "bolt on" it is its a ******* racing part. the sole purpose of it is to get ur heavy *** car down the track straighter and .01 seconds faster. use you head people. if u want to run it on the street cool thats ur car enjoy the ride-but dont expect there to be no trade off with a part designed for racing. let me guess u would have never bought a 12 bolt either had u known that it had a 98% chance of making noise after 3 passes.

Unless you were turning and holding at full lock I would say maybe 5-10hp, they will start internally bypassing pressure at high rpm I believe so high rpm use isnt an issue.

On a Z06 we see 15HP when we remove the power steering pump from the equation. But, this is mostly attributed to pump cavitation at high (over 6500) rpm.

If you don't think a manual rack conversion as a move away froma street car, then I think there are others who would disagree with you. The issue with any aftermarket part in the performance arena is there is a chance it differs from the stock part. If you don't want to scar up your pretty wheels, then put a stop in place to limit your turn radius. Otherwise either don't use it, or switch to skinnies...

I would think as the end user that it falls upon you to do your due diligence on any part like that you plan to buy. If you don't, then don't blame the mfg. It floors me when folks complain about stuff like this. They want a car that makes 1000 RWHP, and that they get 25mpg, and it idles and drives like stock...

Oh well, I got used to manual steering and manual drum brakes on my 72 Nova which was my dialy driver for quite some time... It had no A/C either, and it had vinyl seats. So in the middle of a Texas summer it was toasty with the heat from the headers coming up through the floor. If you want a race car, get used to the tradeoffs....

Wouldn't it be easier to lose 20 lbs by switching to the skinnies in the first place?

Then, when you want to lose anther 20, do the manual rack?

Some people have driveways that require hard turning to get in a garage.

Me being one of them. It's just disappointing that's all.

And as I've stated, I view "Bolt In" as a replacement part that require's minor, if any, modifications to install with no losses or limitations over a stock part.

Let it be known that this IS NOT a bolt in part.

These parts aren't cheap, and I just feel we should know what limitations come along with it prior to ordering.
