You need an M&H 275/55-16 DR. 28" tall, 8.8" tread width, basically a 28x9 tire. That is what I am leaning towards for my 16x9 wheels.

They are a lot lighter than the M/T's of the same size too!

The car is the one pictured in my signature. It's a '79 Malibu stock suspension car with a basic 454 bbc, th400 trans, 8" ATI converter (flashes betwen 5900-6150 rpm depending on the air quality), 4.10 gear. Launched at 2500 rpm off the footbrake, shifts made between 7000-7500 rpm, finish line rpm between 7400-7500 rpm.

By basic 454 I mean it's a basic GM block & steel crank, Eagle +.400" long H-beam rods, JE (not SRP) 50cc dome piston, and a really good set of CFE/BMF 310cc heads. Bullet solid roller 269/276 @ .050, 300/310 gross, .738"/.710 lift, 110 lsa, 108 icl. Compression is 13.4 to 1 and is run on 110 octane Torco Mach 110 race fuel.

Car is fairly nose heavy with over 54% of the weight on the front tires.

I've gone many low 1.3s and two 1.40 on the back tires. This was on the 325/50 at 3700lb race weight in my CE. Going to the 315's in the new car.

Do you want to see what M/T DR will do "out of the hole" ? This is off Street Legal TV.

http://www.streetlegaltv.com/index.p...lv&playlist=13

Don't believe he had a hard time hooking . Seems that the tires have proven their "bite".

Yeah they hook. Here are my 1.40 60' on the back tires. Lifting before the 60' mark. You can hear the blowoff valve. Second video the guy red lit and I cracked the oil pan. http://www.skunkracing.net/Milan/6.30.06/dr2ndround.wmv http://www.skunkracing.net/Milan/6.30.06/drfinals.wmv

Don't expect alot out of them if you have any power under the hood. The sidewall is just as important as the tread, if not more so. Very short sidewall tires like that will be very stiff compared to a 50 or 60 series tire. You need a compliant sidewall to allow the tread to stay in contact with the track surface.
