Question Electric vacuum pump help-recommendations

Ok, tried the search, so maybe no one has tried yet.
I have given my 2 cents worth enough, now I need some of the fast guys with experience to pass on their info.

Since the engine shop stole my old blue, I figured it would be a good time to get up to date. I know the Pro-Stock, spend any amount of money guys use them, have any of you made the switch. I see a few kits in mags and on-line.
My ?? is, did you guys buy a kit, buy the pump and make your own system or tried it and hated it. Who's kit or pump did you like or not like. Thanks guys.

JBL

We use a kit from Nickels Performance, it really sucks good! If you don't have a hookup, let me know and I'll get you one if you want. I think they're around $300 but don't quote me..

Thanks Brady, appreciate any help. I wanted to check out the specs before switching. My Pro-Mod uses 16 volts and my slow car uses 12 volts. I wanted to be able to go back & forth and use as a back up if one broke.

Hey 408, I used a T block and a inline valve to release the vacuum, how do you plan to do it???

I would run a tee with a valve on the breather side and the pump side so I can run one or the other. I would then weld another an bung in my breather tank for the vacumm pump discharge. This is my current setup

I found the kits, I don't know the price, but everyone who's interested should PM Madman, we'll run this one through Thunder Racing..

I just ordered one from Kaye Racing. I've heard of some local guys using them but none on an LS-based motor. From what I hear, on a drag race setup they work great! We'll see...

Don't waste time or money on an evac system, they don't pull enough to do anything, that was all we had back then.

I have the pricing on the pump set up. It runs $350.00 and includes an electric pump and catch can. I am working on pictures.

What are the pros and cons versus the mandrel drive unit for TWICE the price?
I am building a drag race only carbed Big-Block without an alternator and will need to buy something soon. Thanks
